The role
A duo graduation assignment for Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Automation students
DEVELOP AND REALIZE A SAFETY SOLUTION THAT IS 100% SAFE & USER-FRIENDLY, AND CHEAPER AS A TOTAL SOLUTION.
Lan Handling Technologies builds customer-specific machine lines from various standard modules.
You will develop a module where machine usage, safety, and costs must be combined into a total concept.
What you'll do
As a basis, we currently shield our machines with fencing and light curtains. To gain access via doors, we use a key system.
Below is an example functional layout and schematic explanation of the door system
Your challenge!
With the safety solution developed by you, we will fully comply with the machinery directive, and accessibility and cost reduction are guaranteed.
The result of this is increased uptime, and a unique USP in the market in which we operate.
Actions that currently take time during production:
- Walking to HMI, to stop the machine and obtain a key.
- Exchanging a key for 2 keys in an exchange unit
- Walking to the door, unlocking the door.
- "Resetting" the machine / performing SOP
- And bringing everything back, to restart the machine.
Important to consider when designing the solution:
- Footprint must not increase, preferably even less.
- Total costs; engineering costs per project, material costs, installation costs
description
The project structure
Conducting preliminary research (machinery directive), drafting a set of requirements, concept definition and concept choice, design and, if necessary, building a test setup for partial solutions
Your graduation project group consists of 1 duo from the disciplines Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Automation.
To ensure that after 5 months (in addition to the Avans graduation documents) you have realized a workable/tested concept, we approach the graduation assignment as a standard Lan project. What does this mean? You will receive support from a project team consisting of a project manager, mechanical supervisor, software supervisor, an electrical hardware engineer and, if necessary, a purchaser and project fitter
Software we use
· Rockwell Studio5000, for the PLC;
· Rockwell Factorytalk, for HMI interface;
· SolidWorks (/PDM), for 3D CAD models and 2D drawings;
· E Plan
What do we offer?
An entirely new supermarket experience. Huh, what?! Really. As soon as you walk into your internship at Lan Handling, you will never be able to do normal grocery shopping again. From that moment on, you'll be turning cans, jars, and meal bags around everywhere. Just to check: yes, we also handle this product with our machines! But, of course, that is not all:
- €500 gross per month based on 5 days per week
- Lots of freedom And space for your own initiative
- Gaining experience In a multidisciplinary project team
- Working in duos With different disciplines
