The role
Design a sustainable platform canopy and contribute to stations that offer comfort and handle materials smartly.
What you'll do
You will investigate existing platform canopies, materials, and opportunities for reuse or renovation.
You will develop multiple structural design concepts and compare them on sustainability and performance.
You will substantiate your design with calculations and create a technically feasible concept.
You will translate your research into an attractive design for future station projects.
In this structural design graduation internship (architecture or civil engineering), you will design a platform canopy that is demonstrably more sustainable. You will investigate how materials can be used more smartly or how reuse and renovation contribute to less environmental impact. To do this, you will work out a structural design that is technically feasible and can serve as a concept for future station projects. In this way, you contribute to comfortable and future-proof stations.
This is who you are at Movares
you are pursuing a master's degree in the direction of architecture or civil engineering;
you analyze sharply: you investigate existing solutions and translate insights into design choices;
you think creatively: you develop different concepts and investigate which solution works best;
you work in a structured manner: you substantiate choices with visualizations, calculations, and clear arguments.
This is what you get at Movares
An internship at Movares is a kickstart to your career, and there are several reasons for that. For instance, you can count on top-notch support from your internship supervisor, your team, and campus recruiter Noortje. Additionally, you will join a group full of like-minded people. Every year, we welcome between 30 and 40 interns. You will meet them during the monthly Movares Backstage meetings, where connecting with others is the priority. Sometimes you will go out for lunch together or visit a project. Other months, a substantive session is on the schedule, where you might learn to present or advise better, for example.
And also as a member of Young Movares, our youth association, there are regularly fun activities in your calendar. Additionally, every second Tuesday of the month, you can join the Café van de Toekomst: an inspiration session where you are updated, together with your colleagues, on topics and projects taking place within our organization. And that is not all: you can make use of our own Academy with over 3,000 different learning paths, training courses, and e-learning modules.
At Movares, you will work on challenging assignments with plenty of opportunities to develop yourself, a fun and sociable atmosphere, a look behind the scenes of a leading consultancy and engineering firm, and plenty of room for your own initiative and good guidance. The duration and start date are to be determined in consultation. Furthermore, you will receive:
An attractive allowance of €550 based on full-time employment;
Space to find your ideal work-life balance;
Great colleagues and a graduation placement in the heart of Utrecht.
And there is more. Because graduating at Movares also means:
Contributing to a cleaner world, because you are doing your internship at the first company in the Netherlands with a Zero Waste certificate;
Becoming a member of Young Movares, the youth association where you learn from and with other young colleagues.
Your team at Movares
For you as a graduation intern in Architecture or Civil Engineering, there is a position in our Integrated Building Design department within the Structural Design team.
Within this department, approximately 75 colleagues work together on integrated design issues in the built environment. The team combines knowledge of construction, sustainability, manufacturability, and use. Together with the other teams in the department, they develop designs from the initial idea to a applicable concept. The atmosphere is open and involved. Colleagues share knowledge and actively contribute ideas regarding design choices. They work on projects for clients such as ProRail, Rijkswaterstaat, NS, Schiphol, and the Central Government Real Estate Agency. These projects are visible in public spaces and contribute to a future-proof Netherlands.
