What we're looking for

Of course, you don't need to know everything yet. That is exactly what an internship is for. We are primarily looking for someone who is curious, loves learning new things, and gets enthusiastic about AI and technology. Additionally, you recognize yourself in the following points:

You are pursuing a university Master's in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field, OR a university Master's in Strategic Management, People, Organisations & Change, or Business Information, and have an affinity with technology and AI.
You have an interest in ethics, policy, and responsibility structures.
You are analytical, creative, and able to fathom complex problems.
You can work independently and take initiative.
You possess good communication skills, both in Dutch and in English.
You are available as of February 2027.

What you'll get

This is what you will receive from KPN:

An internship allowance of EUR 600,- (based on 40 hours).

The role

You will come to work within the AI Excellence Center - this is a central AI expertise team, where we develop scalable AI components for KPN. We have an overview of all AI use cases, for both analytical and generative AI. Every day, we ensure safe, responsible, and scalable AI deployment within KPN. This is how we help KPN move forward. We are a young and diverse team, where there is room for your own development. We work hybridly, but can be found weekly at our office in Amsterdam-Zuidoost.

What you'll do

You will dive into all AI Governance processes and AI projects developed within KPN and propose improvements. What is going well? Where is there still room for improvement? You will help to make our Responsible AI truly responsible and workable within the company.

You will be involved in:

Analyzing registered AI projects within KPN and assessing the quality of the associated governance documentation.
Supporting reporting, monitoring, and quality controls regarding Responsible AI and AI Governance.
Conducting research into AI governance best practices, Responsible AI, and relevant laws and regulations.
Investigating how the KPN AI Policy aligns with external AI governance best practices and formulating improvement proposals to keep the policy both effective and practically applicable.

In short: you help us to ensure that Responsible AI is not just a nice idea, but a daily practice within KPN. By performing analyses, proposing improvements, and conducting research, you contribute to the safe, reliable, and responsible deployment of AI.
