Design Drafter

As a structural draftsman at Hollandia Services, you ensure that our iconic waterworks continue to function in top condition. With your thoughtful drawings and calculations, you work on sustainable bridges, locks, and flood defenses that the entire Netherlands relies on.

You design technical solutions for the maintenance and renovation of steel structures. You develop these into clear and executable drawings. In doing so, you take safety, manufacturability, and reliability into account. From the start, you are involved in the project and perform on-site measurements where necessary, including scans with our own 3D scanner. Your drawings form the technical basis for practical execution.

No two days are the same: one time you process measurements into a practical solution, the next time you work on the substantiation and elaboration of a complex design. Furthermore, your tasks consist of:

• Performing detail and connection calculations and determining main cross-sections

• Testing designs for force action, feasibility, and safety standards

• Providing clear drawings and technical explanations, so that colleagues can correctly elaborate your design

You will join a close-knit family business where we look out for one another. The atmosphere is informal, lines of communication are short, and initiative is appreciated. Within the Engineering department, you will work with 26 colleagues on unique and technically challenging projects. You will work closely with project engineers, structural designers, work preparers, and production. You will regularly walk into our production halls and see your designs become reality. What else you can expect from us:

• A salary from € 4,448 to € 5,976 per month

• Flexible working hours with a start time between 7:00 and 9:00 AM, and the possibility to work from home one day per week

• 40 days of leave and good pension provisions via the Metalektro collective labor agreement

 With an analytical and constructive eye, you assess designs. You quickly see if a solution is technically correct and feasible.  A background as a draftsman is a plus, especially if you enjoy providing technical substantiation for designs through calculations. What counts is that you have a good understanding of how a structure works and can capture this in drawings and supporting calculations. The structural knowledge required for this can be further developed within this position. Furthermore, we expect from you:

• A completed HBO (higher professional education) degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or similar

• Experience with 2D and/or 3D drawing programs such as AutoCAD; experience with Inventor is a plus

• Demonstrable knowledge of measurement and dimensioning

• Experience reading calculations, technical specifications, and standards such as the Eurocode, and applying these correctly in drawing work

• Ability to perform manual calculations in Excel and on paper
