You are at the helm of a team of engineering professionals working daily on the full engineering scope of technically challenging bridges, locks, and flood defenses. With your leadership and vision, you make an impact on projects that are visible throughout the Netherlands and beyond. That is what you do as Engineering Manager at Hollandia Infra.

As Engineering Manager, you provide daily leadership to a team of 20-25 highly qualified engineering professionals with various roles and seniority levels. You are the driving force behind resource planning, recruitment, and talent development within your team, keeping applied software up to date, and initiating new, innovative software applications. You drive results within engineering projects, where safety, quality, manufacturability, budget, and time are leading principles.

You work closely with colleagues from sales, project management, fabrication, and assembly, and additionally maintain contact with external partners, engineering firms, and clients to secure engineering services for third parties. Part of your role also includes:

• Ensuring quality and progress within engineering projects

• Ensuring structural safety

• Working together with the Digitalization and Automation team on digitalization and automation projects

• Further developing processes, collaboration, and knowledge sharing within the department

• Promoting social safety, departmental climate, and career development

• Contributing to the external visibility and profiling of Hollandia by acting as a figurehead in the engineering domain.

• Further developing the independent offering of engineering services to third parties, such as consulting engineering firms and end customers.

• Managing the department budget, including licenses, tooling, and training

You work within an innovative and technically challenging organization where craftsmanship and collaboration are central. You are able to see the role and context of the engineering department in light of the total project interest and its company-wide optimization. Who are we?
For almost 100 years, Hollandia (Infra) has been a specialist in the design and realization of complex steel structures, including 'movable steel'. The focus is on the Infra market segment, for which bridges, locks, and flood defenses are supplied. But related market segments such as offshore and maritime also have our attention. Our strength lies primarily in our people, who pass on years of experience to one another while simultaneously developing it together and ensuring the deployment and application of (design) software and production tools that are completely up to date. Furthermore, we work closely with colleagues from Hollandia Services, who focus on maintenance and renovation projects.

Context
The engineering department also independently accepts design assignments for third parties and, within infra projects, also provides leadership for integral design assignments carried out (partly) by other engineering firms. The designs are executed under the guidance of a design leader and/or project engineer in a structured process from preliminary design to execution design. The team that creates these designs also consists of structural designers and drafters with a steel and/or mechanical engineering background, who use software applications to realize the designs in 3D and 2D. Yard engineering is also performed in-house. For the near future, there is an enormous replacement task for infrastructural works such as bridges and locks within the Netherlands and Western Europe, to which Hollandia Infra will be able to make a significant contribution.

Reason for vacancy
The current department manager has fulfilled this role with great passion over the past 15 years, defining and implementing a growth and development path for the department. The manager has a particular interest in innovation, digitalization, and automation and will begin to commit himself company-wide as a manager of these development domains. This creates a vacancy for the role of Engineering Department Manager. Given his continued involvement in Infra, a warm transition period into this role is possible.
