The role
At De Vries Scheepsbouw Makkum, we build exceptional Feadships. These are world-class yachts, fully custom-made and finished to perfection. The shipyard is the jewel of the Frisian economy. From our modern shipyard on the IJsselmeer, we proudly work on projects up to 120 meters. Every detail counts, and everyone's craftsmanship contributes to the final result. Together, we realize yachts that garner admiration worldwide. You will make an important contribution to that. Will you take the space to do what you are good at in your own way?
What you'll do
As a Stainless Steel Specialist, you work both in the workshop and on board the yachts. You are involved in the entire process: from manufacturing parts to final assembly. In the workshop, you produce stainless steel parts based on technical drawings. You perform operations such as assembly, welding (TIG), and finishing. You ensure that the parts meet the specified requirements and are ready for installation.
Subsequently, you assist with the outfitting on board. You position and adjust parts and install, among other things, exterior lighting, mast equipment, and anchor equipment. You check whether parts fit and function correctly. Because every yacht is custom-made, you will encounter situations where parts must be adjusted. You assess this and coordinate with colleagues to reach a suitable solution.
What you bring
Do you have a technical MBO background and do you enjoy working with metal? Whether you already have experience as a stainless steel fitter or are ready to take your first steps in the profession: we are looking for people with enthusiasm for technology. Experience in yacht building or a similar environment is a plus, but we find your motivation at least as important.
You know how to effortlessly translate technical drawings into a high-quality end product. You have experience with TIG welding. Do you not have that experience yet, but want to develop it? Then we are happy to offer you the opportunity to obtain a diploma. You work accurately, have an eye for detail, and always strive for the best finish. Additionally, you think in solutions and maintain an overview even with challenging issues.
You take responsibility for your own work and feel involved in the collective result. In doing so, you work pleasantly with colleagues within the department and with other disciplines on board. You communicate clearly and coordinate your activities well with others. In this way, you actively contribute to a smooth project progression. Together, you ensure an end result that the entire team is proud of.
