Nijmegen- Are you analytically strong and interested in journalism? At De Gelderlander, you will get the chance to turn data into concrete insights that help our newsroom create better stories and reach more readers. In this way, you will make a visible contribution every day to the development of our journalism.
What will you do?
As a Data Analyst, you are the link between data and journalism at De Gelderlander. You translate data into concrete insights that allow the editor-in-chief, section editors, and reporters to make strategic choices and seize opportunities. With your analyses, you help the newsroom better understand how the audience consumes our journalism and you provide direction to the editorial course. Without your analyses, valuable insights remain unused and opportunities for digital growth become visible less quickly.
This includes:
Analyzing editorial performance, performing medium-sized and in-depth analyses, and translating complex issues into clear, visually supported insights and concrete advice.
Acting as a point of contact and sparring partner for section editors and the editor-in-chief regarding readership figures, audience behavior, and opportunities for digital growth.
Providing strategic advice based on data, critically testing hypotheses, and supporting the newsroom in achieving long-term goals, including OKRs.
Training the newsroom in the use of tooling and encouraging them to use dashboards and self-service tools independently.
Working together within the ADR cluster team (AD + regional titles, including De Gelderlander) of Editorial Insights & Growth, sharing methodologies, drawing up local action plans, and supporting projects across multiple newsrooms.
What do you get from us?
With us, you get an inspiring work environment that is continuously in motion. Colleagues who think in possibilities, see the glass half full, and we give you the chance to develop yourself daily. We do this, among other things, through our DPG Academy. This gives you every opportunity to get the best out of yourself and to be a true media maker!
Discover what we have to offer. And, while you're at it, you can also find us on Instagram, LinkedIn, and X.
Apply, and then?
Do you want to get started right away? Then apply directly and no later than October 18th. You will receive a response to your application within 10 working days after the closing date, at which point you will hear if you have made the first selection. If you are in the first selection, we will contact you by telephone to schedule an appointment.
Who are we?
You will work in the newsroom of De Gelderlander and simultaneously be part of the Editorial Insights & Growth (RI&G) department. This team consists of about ten analysts working for news titles and magazines in the Netherlands and Belgium. Within RI&G, you will work closely with a cluster of (regional) analysts and contribute to projects that support multiple newsrooms. This allows you to combine the dynamics of a local newsroom with the knowledge and collaboration of a larger expert team.
