The role
Be a part of our ambitious Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity team within the IP&T practice group at DLA Piper Netherlands. Our practice is known for the combination of strategic advice and strong litigation for leading (inter)national clients. We operate at the intersection of data protection, digital, data, and cybersecurity law, translating complex regulations into practical and impactful solutions.
As a (Senior) Associate, you will work on complex, often cross-border issues at the intersection of advisory and litigation. You will advise clients strategically on risks and enforcement, act in proceedings, and contribute to their compliance approach in a rapidly changing digital landscape. You will work closely with colleagues from other practice groups and offices worldwide and will be given the space to further develop your own client relationships and professional profile.
Are you able to translate legal issues within the digital domain into sharp strategies and convincing solutions—both in the boardroom and in the courtroom? Do you enjoy working for top international clients and do you want a role with visible impact and responsibility? Then we invite you to further develop yourself within a driven and international team.
What you'll do
- Advising and litigating on a wide spectrum of issues in the fields of privacy, digital regulation, data, and cybersecurity, including strategic advice on Digital Decade legislation (such as the AI Act, Data Act, DSA, NIS2, and CRA)
- Representing clients in complex proceedings and enforcement matters and developing effective litigation strategies
- Independently leading files, acting as the first point of contact for (inter)national clients, and collaborating intensively with colleagues within our international network
- Contributing to business development, the expansion of client relationships, and the further growth of the practice group, including mentoring and coaching junior colleagues
About you
- 4-10 years of relevant work experience as a lawyer within privacy and data protection law, with demonstrable experience in litigation and dispute resolution
- In-depth knowledge of privacy, data, and digital regulation, including Digital Decade legislation (AI Act, Data Act, DSA, NIS2, and CRA), and the ability to translate complex legal issues into practical and strategic solutions
- Independent, entrepreneurial, and commercially minded, with an affinity for building client relationships
- A convincing and professional appearance, with excellent oral and written command of both Dutch and English
