Keen to become part of a truly global, collaborative team of professionals? Your journey begins here.
Hogan Lovells Cadwalader is one of the largest international law firms and has more than 35 offices in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and the United States. Globally, more than 2800 lawyers work at Hogan Lovells Cadwalader, of which approximately 70 are lawyers, (candidate) notaries, tax specialists, and paralegals in Amsterdam. At Hogan Lovells Cadwalader, you get the chance to shape both your own future and that of our clients.
As a working student, you will fully participate for approximately two days per week for three months in the close-knit Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity team in Amsterdam, where open and clear communication is central. You will share an office with an experienced lawyer who will mentor you personally, and in addition, a supervisor will be assigned. You may participate in our weekly coffee meeting so that you know exactly what is happening in the department and what everyone is working on.
We advise clients on diverse, strategic issues in the field of Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity. This can include, among other things, advising regarding global cyberattacks and data breaches, GDPR compliance, (international) transfer and exchange of personal data, cookies, the use of data from medical devices, and enforcement by the Dutch Data Protection Authority. Our clients include, among others, large (listed) companies, tech companies in the travel sector, global cloud providers, sports brands, manufacturers of self-driving cars, manufacturers of connected medical devices, and software providers.
Innovation & Inclusion and Responsible Business are important priorities for our firm. Hogan Lovells Cadwalader is among the top 5 most innovative law firms in North America and Europe. Doing pro bono and volunteer work is in the DNA of our people. In this way, we take our responsibility to give something back to society.
Your tasks are broad and diverse, ranging from analyzing new legislation and legal issues, writing internal memos, blogs, and draft advice, to attending meetings with clients. Under the guidance of our lawyers, you will be taught how to translate theory into practice, in order to arrive at practically workable advice for the client that does justice to the client's interests. In addition, there is room for your own initiatives and responsibilities. Naturally, you are also welcome at all our social activities and will meet lawyers, working students, and student interns from other practice groups. This way, you will get a good impression of Hogan Lovells Cadwalader, our team, and what it is like to be a part of it.
