The role

Do you want to discover how artificial intelligence can be deployed responsibly within a large financial organization and how AI can help to better manage privacy risks? For the Data Protection CoE, we are looking for a curious and entrepreneurial intern who wants to work at the intersection of privacy risk management, AI governance, and practical innovation.

During this internship, you will work from two perspectives. On one hand, you will support the Privacy Office in recognizing, assessing, and managing privacy risks arising from the development and use of AI. On the other hand, you will help develop AI use cases that can make privacy processes smarter, more consistent, and more efficient. In this way, you will learn how policy, risk assessment, process knowledge, technology, data, human oversight, and adoption come together in practice.

You do not need to be an AI or privacy expert yet, although affinity with and interest in these topics is a plus. We are looking for someone who can quickly master new subjects, can analyze carefully, and enjoys experimenting within clear frameworks. You enjoy translating abstract risks and ideas into concrete questions, use cases, prompts, working methods, and learning interventions.

What you'll do

Depending on your interests and development, under supervision you will, among other things:

  • Inventory AI initiatives and questions in which personal data, privacy legislation, or privacy risks play a role.
  • Support the analysis of privacy risks surrounding AI, for example in the areas of purpose limitation, data minimization, transparency, access, accuracy of output, human oversight, and responsible use.
  • Help translate relevant internal frameworks, guidelines, and governance into practical guidance, checklists, decision trees, and communication for employees.
  • Inventory and concretize AI use cases that contribute to managing privacy risks or improving privacy processes.
  • Support use cases surrounding typical privacy topics
  • Map out processes and user needs, determine together with subject matter experts where AI can add value, and help to record the intended value, preconditions, and risks.
  • Develop, test, and improve prompts, skills, or concepts for AI agents, including collecting user feedback and critically checking the quality of the output.
  • Contribute to pilots and adoption by developing demonstrations, work instructions, prompt libraries, presentations, workshops, and training on responsible AI use.
  • Collaborate with privacy professionals and disciplines such as Compliance, DPO, Legal, Risk, IT, Data, and AI teams and present findings, lessons learned, and recommendations to the Data Protection CoE

Your profile

You:

  • is pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in AI, Information Law, Innovation and Technology, or a related field and is looking for an internship;
  • has an interest in AI, privacy, data, compliance, risk management, governance, and organizational change;
  • is analytical and structured and finds it interesting to investigate both risks and opportunities for improvement;
  • can reduce complex information to clear questions, practical guidance, or a concrete use case;
  • is curious, enjoys experimenting, and critically checks AI output for accuracy, usability, and potential risks;
  • has strong communication skills and is careful in handling confidential information and personal data;
  • is proactive and enjoys working independently on a defined assignment as well as collaborating with professionals from different fields;
  • has a good command of Dutch; English is a plus.

We offer

You will get the chance to gain practical experience at the intersection of AI and privacy risk management. You will learn not only which privacy risks can arise with AI and how these are managed within a large financial organization, but also how AI itself can be deployed to strengthen privacy processes and risk management.

You will contribute to the full development of use cases: from problem analysis, process exploration, and business value to risk analysis, prompting, testing, adoption, and training. In doing so, you will gain insight into bank-wide AI governance, multidisciplinary collaboration, and the conditions for responsible innovation, such as clear process owners, involved subject matter experts, reliable data, human control, and appropriate monitoring.

You will receive sufficient guidance and space to become increasingly independent. You will align your learning goals with the internship coordinator, who will guide you through the organization, and you will be paired with at least one senior professional who is substantively involved in the assignment.

Interest

Do you want to learn how to recognize and manage the privacy risks of AI and how to use AI to improve privacy risk management? And does it appeal to you to translate ideas into practical guidance, usable prompts, and concrete AI use cases together with subject matter experts?

Then we would love to meet you. Above all, tell us what you want to learn, what you are curious about, and why this internship appeals to you.
