The role

De Brauw is a leading Dutch law firm with a powerful international practice. We guide clients where it matters, whether that is in Amsterdam or on the other side of the world. Our lawyers, civil law notaries, and tax specialists advise at the highest level on complex, usually cross-border, legal issues. For more than 150 years, we have combined legal depth with strategic insight and social commitment. Innovation, substance, and development are central to us – in our services and our people. That is why we are always looking for new talent! What drives us? The ambition to think ahead and to get better together. We are one team, with room for different perspectives and for everyone's contribution. That is why we continue to invest in development: in our people, our organization, and the profession.

What you'll do

We are looking for a Legal Adviser Finance to strengthen our Finance & Restructuring practice group. This is a unique opportunity to support a strategically important and multidisciplinary practice. The group is growing rapidly and deals with corporate finance, leveraged finance, and restructuring matters. In this role, you will deal daily with corporate finance, including banking finance, direct lending and debt capital markets.

Our Finance & Restructuring practice group advises clients on complex financing transactions and works together with various practice groups, including Private Equity, M&A, Capital Markets, and Litigation. We typically act for multinationals, but also for sponsors (private equity) and credit funds (direct lenders). Additionally, we provide strategic advice on capital structuring and guide a wide range of transactions that are of crucial importance to the company. You will join a dynamic team of highly qualified specialists and play a crucial role in strengthening and maintaining the team's legal knowledge. Although you are organizationally part of Legal Operations, in your daily work you are fully integrated into the F&R team and participate in all team activities. This is not a merely supportive role.

What will you do?

  • Advising the Finance & Restructuring practice group on all aspects of this multidisciplinary practice, partly in the matters themselves, whether or not in a client-facing capacity.
  • Staying informed about relevant developments in the field of financial law and regulation, including LMA and ICMA documentation.
  • Being responsible, together with the Senior Legal Adviser Restructuring, for maintaining and proactively improving a knowledge base of legal advice, models, and precedents.
  • Writing market updates and client briefings and contributing to newsletters for clients and colleagues regarding relevant developments in the practice.
  • Playing a proactive role in business development activities, including pitches and client events and seminars.
  • Improving the efficiency and productivity of the team by proactively sharing specialist knowledge and lessons learned between project teams.
  • Maintaining relationships with Dutch and international organizations in the field of Finance with which De Brauw collaborates or would like to collaborate.
  • Stimulating innovation within the Finance practice, including through the use of AI applications, and regularly sharing best practices with fellow Legal Advisers.
