Additionally, specialists with knowledge of noise and wind are also part of the advisory group. There is a helpful and collaborative working atmosphere, not only within the team but within the entire advisory group.

  • Available from September 2026 for at least four months;

What makes the internship interesting

In the Netherlands, the energy transition and the associated infrastructure (think of high-voltage connections at sea and on land or heat networks) are developing at a high pace. Initiating, researching, and spatially integrating sustainable energy sources and their transport is a complex and time-consuming challenge. Especially in a country like the Netherlands where space is scarce and our landscape is going to change drastically in the coming decades. More and more, projects in the energy transition are not being considered in isolation, but are serving as a reason for integrated area development, where themes such as participation, landscape integration, and multifunctional applications belong.

To be able to realize a project, we go through various planning procedures. Within the Energy and Environment team, project leaders and advisors work on managing and executing feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments (EIA), assessment notes, environmental impact reports (EIR), and basic designs. For various projects for clients such as TenneT, Gasunie, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, the team is busy in different phases of the planning process. In this regard, we work on new substation locations and connections. We tackle these different assignments with a diverse team. As an intern, you will work in the EIA and project management team. Here, we coordinate the various projects and, together with the specialists (experts in fields such as nature, for example), carry out the necessary environmental studies.

Examples of recent projects include: VAWOZ, Zeeuws Vlaanderen 380kV, Nederwiek 3, Maasbracht-Graetheide 380kV and Hydrogen Network.

We will involve you in various project roles within different projects, which will be determined in consultation with you. You will be guided by a colleague during this process. Together, you will discuss what you enjoy and where you want to grow further. You will also participate in the peer review group for interns and graduates of our market group, so that you can share your experiences with your fellow interns and expand your network and knowledge. At the end of your internship, you will have experience working at an advisory and engineering firm, collaborating with (government) agencies, and working within an interdisciplinary team in the spatial design of the energy transition. An opportunity like this does not come often!

Concrete tasks that you will perform as an intern:

  • Writing substantive textual contributions to reports;
  • Supporting colleagues with ad-hoc matters;
  • Attending meetings with the client and stakeholders and recording minutes;
  • Organization and coordination of project matters.

Practical information

  • At least 3 days in the office
  • Period of at least 4 months, preferably 5
  • Available location: Amersfoort and Arnhem
  • Preference for working interns, but graduation opportunities are also negotiable
