A unique mix of nursing, personal attention to patients, and a high turnover. It is all part of your job as an oncology nurse in the day treatment unit at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek in Amsterdam. In a dynamic environment with various oncological specialties, you will have the opportunity to continuously expand your knowledge and further develop your skills!
You will be working in our motivated team of about 30 colleagues in the day treatment unit, where we work together from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 19:00 to ensure an optimal patient experience. With 50 treatment spots and approximately 130 patients daily, every day is a new challenge full of possibilities.
In our department, we combine a high turnover with personal attention and high-quality care. Most patients come for intravenous treatments or immunotherapy, in which you, as a nurse, play an important role in their care pathway. You will have the chance to build short-term and long-term relationships, but also to guide patients in the palliative phase and support clinical studies. We also see patients for blood transfusions, ascites punctures, and lumbar punctures; every day brings new challenges and opportunities to make a difference. Additionally, you are responsible for the nursing consultation hour, where you provide new patients with the correct information about the treatment and offer reassurance. You are the hub in our care process: you care for 8 to 12 patients per day, each with their unique treatment plan. This requires quick switching, setting priorities, and the art of remaining calm and accurate under pressure. Your clinical eye and attentive care are always central. There is plenty of attention for your own development and professional advancement, for example, by taking on cross-functional tasks. You take initiative in improving care, equipment, or logistics, both requested and unrequested.
Ready to make an unforgettable impact in oncological care? Join our team and grow with us in an environment where attention and quality come first! Want to know more about the day treatment? See here the interview with 2 oncology nurses from the Day Treatment.
At the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek, we all commit to the same goal: the best care for every patient and every type of cancer. That is no small feat. But not impossible. Here, science and care work together on innovation. Time and again, we find new ways that help people with cancer worldwide. Here we save lives, we win time and quality.
Helping patients as much as possible and putting them at ease: that is what you commit to, both independently and together with colleagues. You see the substantive diversity as a challenge, in which quick switching and clinical reasoning suit you well. As a team, we are quite self-managing, which is why we expect you to be decisive and have the ability to improvise.
