Physician-Researcher - Targeted Therapy

The basis for your terms of employment is in accordance with the Cao Ziekenhuizen (Collective Labour Agreement for Hospitals). You will receive from us:

• A temporary employment for a period of 4 years, for 36 hours per week;

• A gross monthly salary between € 4,346 and € 4,914, based on a 36-hour work week, appropriate to the Clinical OIO scale and depending on your experience;

Do you want to contribute to the development of new, targeted treatments for patients with mutation-driven lung cancer? As a physician-researcher within Thoracic Oncology, you will research new treatment combinations in, among others, EGFR- and ALK-positive lung cancer and map out the mechanisms of action of these treatments using innovative PET scans. A versatile four-year research project in which you guide patients, analyze and describe research results, and work towards your PhD.

Within the Thoracic Oncology department, we are looking for a physician-researcher for our research line into targeted therapy. Within this research line, work is being done on the development of new treatment strategies for patients with mutation-driven lung cancer.

The current vacancy concerns research into mutation-driven lung cancer, specifically EGFR mutation-positive and ALK fusion-positive lung cancer. This type of lung cancer occurs relatively frequently in younger people who usually have not smoked. These patients are treated with targeted therapy, such as osimertinib. Although this treatment is very effective, the effect is temporary and resistance occurs over time.

We are going to prospectively investigate new treatment combinations in this group of patients. An important part of this research is mapping out the mechanisms of action of the various treatments by means of special PET scans and additional studies. As a physician-researcher, you will be involved in:

• Writing study protocols;

• Including and guiding patients;

• Analyzing and describing the research results.

This concerns a four-year research project, which will be completed with a PhD.
