For the Medical Center for Animals (MCD) in Amsterdam, we are looking for an enthusiastic veterinary nurse who enjoys being broadly deployable. You will not work in one fixed department, but will move along with different teams and specialties within the MCD. A varied role in which you learn a lot, discover different sides of the profession, and truly become part of the entire clinic.
The Medical Center for Animals is an emergency and specialist clinic for animals. After the University Clinic in Utrecht, the MCD is the largest clinic in the Netherlands and is open 24/7.
At the MCD, more than 165 colleagues work, and various departments and specialist fields work closely together. Additionally, other specialist disciplines and collaborative partners are located at our site.
Due to the size and diversity of the MCD, you will get the opportunity to come into contact with many different forms of veterinary medicine.
As an MCD-wide veterinary nurse, you are flexibly deployable within the clinic. You will work four days per week (0.8 FTE) on a basic basis. Emergency care is a fixed part of this MCD-wide role. Additionally, you will work within one or more other departments of the MCD. Which departments those are is still open and we will discuss this together based on your experience, interests, and the needs within the clinic.
For example, you can be deployed around specialist treatments, diagnostics, inpatient care, anesthesia, and monitoring. In Emergency, you will work with acute and sometimes complex cases. Because the MCD offers 24/7 care, you will work within a varied roster. Together with your colleagues, you will contribute to the staffing of Emergency, also outside of regular working hours.
No two days are the same. Precisely because you work in different departments, you quickly learn to switch gears and develop broad veterinary knowledge and experience.
You will work together with experienced veterinary nurses, veterinarians, and specialists. Because of this, you will learn a lot from different colleagues and discover which parts of the profession suit you best.
As an MCD-wide veterinary nurse, your work is varied. Depending on the department where you work, you may be involved in, among other things:
Supporting veterinarians and specialists during treatments and examinations.
Caring for and monitoring admitted patients.
Preparing and guiding patients regarding examinations and treatments.
Performing various medical-technical procedures.
Assisting with anesthesia and monitoring.
Working with patients within Emergency Care.
Identifying changes in the condition of patients and acting upon them.
Informing and guiding pet owners.
Collaborating with colleagues from different disciplines and departments.
You will be given the space to further develop yourself and take on increasing responsibility.
Because at the MCD, you do not have to choose just one direction.
Do you find emergency care interesting, but also want to learn more about specialist care? Do you want to gain experience with different specialties? Or do you just not know exactly which direction you want to go yet?
Then this position might be for you.
You will get the opportunity to gain broad experience within a specialist environment, while we look together at where your strengths and interests lie.
A varied position for 32 hours per week (0.8 FTE).
A combination of working in Emergency and various specialist departments.
A challenging work environment in which you can learn a lot.
Collaboration with experienced veterinary nurses, veterinarians, and veterinary specialists.
Plenty of room for personal and professional development.
An enthusiastic and professional team.
A dynamic organization that is fully in development.
Good employment conditions, including a suitable salary with growth opportunities, participation in Pensioenfonds Zorg & Welzijn, and full reimbursement of travel expenses.
We are looking for a veterinary nurse who gets energy from variety and enjoys working in different places within an organization.
Have graduated as a veterinary nurse and possess a registration with the CIBG.
Preferably have some work experience in a veterinary practice.
Do you not have much work experience yet, but would like to develop yourself broadly? Even then, we cordially invite you to apply. You will be well onboarded in the various departments and will receive guidance from experienced veterinary nurses, veterinarians, and specialists. This gives you the space to learn, gain experience, and work increasingly independently.
Are curious and want to continue developing yourself.
Enjoy collaborating with different teams and specialties.
Are flexible and can switch well between different tasks.
Are independent, but also know when to seek collaboration.
Work carefully and keep a cool head when the situation demands it.
Have a good command of the Dutch language, both orally and in writing.
Can manage well in English when communicating with pet owners and colleagues.
Experience with emergency care, inpatient care, anesthesia, monitoring, or specialist care is a plus, but certainly not a requirement.
An experienced veterinary nurse? We are interested in that too!
Do you already have extensive experience? Then we would love to see how you can apply your knowledge MCD-wide and which opportunities for specialization or additional responsibilities suit you.
Do you want to work in an environment where you can develop yourself broadly, come into contact with different specialties, and where no day is the same?
