The role

Safety is not an option: it is the right of every employee. This is what drives you. You provide your clients with valuable advice and support them with a customized solution for creating a safe working environment. The beauty of this intermediate safety specialist position? The freedom to plan your own time and work. And the variety between different companies and industries.

What you'll do

You ensure a safe working environment.

Drawing up an RI&E, executing the plan of approach, or leading manhole and fire watchers during a factory shutdown. Your work is different every day.

As an intermediate safety specialist, you support and advise our clients regarding a safe workplace for every employee.

You do this, for example, by:

  • a suitable proposal. Every request requires customization. You investigate which activities are being performed, how many people are working, what traffic passes through the site, and the risks this entails. You take this information back to the office, where a tailored proposal is created.

  • a sharp risk assessment. A site tour and conversations with employees and management. You also examine whether the work processes and environment meet safety requirements. You map out risks and inspect whether the safety policy is being followed. Additionally, you analyze (near) incidents and accidents to clearly map out safety risks;

  • clear advice. You process your insights into a Health & Safety plan, RI&E and/or improvement proposal. The Working Conditions Act (Arbowet) is your guide. You think along with your clients to arrive at advice that is as workable and practical as possible. You determine the actions to be carried out, priorities, and how much time and budget is required. Does the plan need to be reviewed by an occupational health expert? Then you arrange that;

  • practical support. Implementing measures, executing the plan of approach, or supervising manhole and fire watchers: you like to roll up your sleeves.

As a safety specialist, you work on a consultancy basis for various clients, with various questions. The duration of assignments can vary enormously. Sometimes you are finished in a few days, sometimes the assignment lasts a year.

What can you count on?

A challenging job with plenty of variety and freedom at one of our clients in the province of Groningen, Friesland, or Drenthe, or Germany. Furthermore, you will have colleagues with a wealth of experience that you can draw upon. This allows you to gain new knowledge and experience incredibly fast, developing you into an all-round specialist in the field of safety.

Requirements

You strive to be a valuable addition to our clients. You dare to think beyond your field of expertise for this. For the best and most complete solution, you work intensively with others.

In addition, you have:

  • an MVK diploma;

  • preferably a VCA-vol certificate. If you do not have this yet, you can obtain it through us;

  • a clear way of communicating. You can empathize well with your conversation partners and quickly see how people in an organization work together. Handling sensitive information in a confidential manner is a matter of course for you;

  • an eager-to-learn attitude. You read professional literature, discuss cases, and share knowledge with your colleagues. You also actively participate in our Safety Whatsapp group in which we ask each other questions and share information;

  • good knowledge of the Dutch language. And you speak basic English to give instructions to manhole and fire watchers who do not speak Dutch.
