Your own shop, but then with technicians, light poles, and a telephone that pays little heed to your planning. Organizing the work together with your colleagues, with plenty of freedom to decide for yourself how to approach it. Who do you deploy where? What needs attention today? And how do we achieve it together? As a public lighting supervisor at SWARCO in Almere, you will be given the space to take initiative. With your own crew, in a profession where your choices become visible outdoors.

From Almere, you will organize the management and maintenance of public lighting in the surrounding area. From resolving faults and repairing damage to planned activities: you ensure that people, materials, and appointments align.

That begins with a clear work order. You discuss the work packages with the technicians, ensure they understand what needs to be done, and arrange the correct materials and tools. You create the daily capacity planning and determine who you deploy where. Do you need extra people or do you have capacity to spare? Then you seek coordination with fellow supervisors to help each other.

You lead the technicians and help them to work increasingly independently. Some are satisfied with a short explanation, while others need more guidance. You visit the work locations, check the execution, and discuss what is going well and what could be improved. In doing so, you also look at the organization of the work. Where does it get stuck? How can we approach it differently? Together with your team, you ensure that improvements outdoors truly work.

You also maintain short lines of communication with the client and other involved parties. You participate in execution meetings and coordinate activities with, for example, civil contractors and construction companies. You discuss what is needed, make agreements, and identify opportunities to take on additional work for the customer.

You divide your time between the office and the field. Planning, administration, and inspections are therefore also part of the job. How that division turns out exactly depends partly on the independence of your technicians. You organize your own day, but remain involved in what happens outdoors.

Are you ready for this responsibility, but do not yet have all the experience as a supervisor? Then you can start as an assistant supervisor. An experienced colleague will guide you, so that you get to know the work and gradually take over the responsibility.
