What you'll get

  • A contract for 36 hours per week for the duration of the training. Is this your first healthcare training? Then during the BVP period, you will receive a training-learning agreement with a 'pocket money' arrangement.

  • Do you already work in healthcare or at St Jansdal and want to further develop or switch? Then you will enter 1 scale lower than the position, in order to grow within the hospital CAO after your training.

  • After a successfully completed BPV period, you will receive a training-employment agreement with a salary per practical year, classified according to scale 50 (FWG 3.0): minimum € 3,395 and maximum € 4,818 per month based on 36 hours, plus 8.33% holiday allowance and 8.33% end-of-year bonus.

  • After obtaining the qualification, the salary is classified according to scale 55 (FWG 3.0): minimum € 3,903 and maximum € 5,503 per month based on 36 hours, plus 8.33% holiday allowance and 8.33% end-of-year bonus.

  • Pension accrual at Pensioenfonds Zorg & Welzijn, discount on your health insurance premium, company fitness, and the MKA scheme (More Choice in Employment Conditions).

  • Through the St Jansdal Academie, you work (online) on your personal and professional development — with regular workshops and initiatives to stay healthy and vital.

The role

At St Jansdal, you grow. Not because you have to, but simply because there is room for it. In September 2026, the training program to become an anesthesia assistant starts via the Amstel Academie in Amsterdam: approximately three years of working and learning, right through our OR complex. From starter to skilled professional - at your own pace, with the St Jansdal Academie and experienced colleagues around you. Simply because we believe you can develop the best version of yourself here.

What you'll do

You support the anesthesiologist during procedures, monitor the patient's vital functions, and ensure a safe handover afterwards. You also prepare medication, check equipment, and manage supplies.

How you'll work

You work flexibly according to a schedule that you receive well in advance. There are on-call shifts, also outside regular working hours (evenings and weekends). Do you not live nearby? Then you can stay overnight in the hospital.

Our OR complex in Harderwijk and Lelystad features 8 operating rooms (including 1 hybrid OR). Here you will work together with 65 surgical assistants, 33 anesthesia assistants (including 6 sedation practice specialists), and 16 recovery nurses, managed by 2 team leaders and a head of OR.

What the training looks like

You begin with a pre-professional period (BVP) of four months: six weeks of full-time education, followed by internships in various departments, including the OR. Do you already have a nursing background? Then we will look into whether a shortened trajectory is possible. Ideally, you will come to work for a month before the start of the training.

After the BVP follows the professional guidance period (BBP), in which you alternate theory with practical learning at the OR complex. You will receive increasing responsibility, matching your growth towards an expert and independent role in accordance with EPA guidelines. Simply growing, step by step.

What do we ask of you?

  • At least a Havo diploma with an exact subject package (Nature and Technology/Health), a completed MBO nursing education level 4, or an HBO nursing education. Prior nursing education is a plus.

  • An enthusiastic, driven attitude - you want to lay the foundation for a beautiful future as an anesthesia assistant together with us.

  • You are structured and stress-resistant: the work can be hectic, and the theoretical part requires a lot of energy and time in addition to working. Perseverance is therefore indispensable.

  • You are tactful and have integrity. Patients can be anxious, afraid, or sad - with your personality and professional attitude, you win their trust.

  • Empathy, communication skills, and the ability to take initiative and responsibility - both independently and in a team.
