Gas Leak Detector in the Netherlands

The majority of households in the Netherlands are still connected to the natural gas grid. It seems obvious that you can use gas safely at home, but to keep it that way, Siers Infraconsult performs gas leak detection work on behalf of various grid operators. Every gas pipe is checked for leaks once every three years, so that the chance of accidents when turning on the heating or a warm shower remains as small as possible.

As a gas leak detector, you walk over the underground gas pipes with a gas detection device and a tablet and check them for leaks. If you find a leak or something unusual, you report this to the client according to the regulations. Gas pipes run not only under public land but also under private property. You will therefore regularly visit people's yards, and residents like to know what you are doing. A friendly explanation is therefore part of the job.

Your work area will primarily be the east of the province of Utrecht. Your workday often begins from home and you drive to the respective area where you have already prepared the walking route yourself.

The work as a gas leak detector begins around February and runs through approximately the month of October. During the winter period, Siers will look for replacement work for you. Think of activities on smart gas and electricity meters, but also inspection and maintenance work on central heating boilers. We are looking for new colleagues for the 2027 season. Therefore, the start date will be around February 8, 2027.

• At least MBO level 2 work and thinking level;

• You possess a B driving license;

• You are proficient with computers and/or tablets;

• You can understand measurements on drawings or you want to learn this;

• Good skills in planning and organizing your own work;

• You have good physical fitness; you perform the work mainly on foot, meaning you cover approximately 20 kilometers per day;

• Good command of the Dutch language, both oral and written. You will visit people's yards, where residents like to know what you are doing. Additionally, you will visit people's homes during the winter work;
