Do you have a Category B driver's license, an affinity with the Port of Rotterdam through education, internship, or work experience, and do you live in Spijkenisse or the surrounding area? Take on this challenge with us and become an internally trained Cargo Inspector at SGS! Additionally, SGS is a recognized training company for the Advanced Port Operations Employee or Port Operations Coordinator programs.
You do not learn the profession of Cargo Inspector at school. At SGS, we train you internally to become a junior Cargo Inspector, after which you can grow and further develop into the roles of medior or senior Cargo Inspector. As a Cargo Inspector, you inspect the liquid cargo of ships, tank trucks, land tanks, and wagons. The cargo consists of a wide range of petrochemical products and gases. You take samples of the cargo, which are subsequently analyzed by your colleagues in the laboratory. In addition, you perform cleanliness inspections and conduct various measurements and quantity calculations.
As a Trainee Cargo Inspector, you have contact with various people within and outside our organization. You work together with the laboratory and the customer service department and are guided by coordinators, trainers, and fellow Cargo Inspectors. You also have contact with customers and terminals. You start in a 2-shift system and will transition to a 5-shift system at a later moment during or after your training.
You do not have a fear of heights, fear of water, or claustrophobia. You learn best through on-the-job training, you are curious, and you dare to ask questions. Your communication and mathematical skills are sound. You have a good command of the Dutch and English languages. You can work with computers and the Microsoft Office suite. Additionally, you possess a VCA certificate or are willing to obtain this certificate.
