Watching Netflix, taking a warm shower, reheating a pizza, or grabbing a glass of clean drinking water. It all seems obvious, but that is only possible thanks to the underground infrastructure of the Netherlands. Beneath the ground lie cables and pipes that ensure homes, businesses, and entire neighborhoods have electricity, gas, water, heat, and data.

Do you want to learn a technical trade, enjoy working outdoors, and contribute directly to the energy transition? As an Apprentice District Heating Technician at Siers, you will learn step by step how to work on heating networks that provide homes and buildings with sustainable heat.

And that is where you come in! As an Apprentice District Heating Technician, you will learn how to install, connect, and maintain these pipes. In this way, you help to provide more and more homes and neighborhoods with sustainable heat and contribute to the energy transition. Together with experienced colleagues, you will get to work in the Almere region. You will primarily learn the trade in practice and work on various projects. One time you might help connect a house or apartment complex to the heating network, and the next time you might work on the installation of a complete heating network for a new residential area. You will learn how pipes are laid, connected, and maintained, and how to work safely at different project locations. Furthermore, you will never be alone: experienced colleagues will guide you and teach you how to perform more and more tasks independently, step by step. In this way, you are not only working on your own future, but also on a more sustainable energy supply for the Netherlands.

With district heating, homes and buildings are heated via a network of pipes underground. Instead of every house having its own gas boiler, hot water is brought to homes and buildings via the heating network.

You do not need to be an experienced technician yet. The most important thing is that you have the will to learn the trade. We will provide the guidance and training.

It is, however, nice if you bring a good foundation:

• You have a driver's license;

• A work/study agreement for 40 hours per week;

• A fully paid training program including the necessary safety training;

• 25 vacation days and 13 ADV days on a full-time basis, so that you have sufficient time to relax or go on holiday;

• Everything you need to perform your work well, including a laptop, phone, and your own work van equipped with all necessary materials and tools;

• A good and familial atmosphere at a family business where people come first. We work hard, but overtime is not the standard. A healthy work-life balance is always our priority;

• When Siers makes a profit, you share in it by means of a profit-sharing scheme.
