What you'll do

  • You contribute directly to the craftsmanship of colleagues, the availability of our trains, and the safety of our passengers.
  • With your technical knowledge and didactic skills, you make colleagues both qualified and competent to perform their work safely and professionally.
  • You combine in-depth technical knowledge with the training, coaching, and development of mechanics and specialists.
  • You work in an inspiring learning environment where learning, development, and craftsmanship are central.
  • You will receive plenty of space to further develop yourself in the fields of didactics, coaching, and practical learning.

  • You advise and guide fellow learning coaches and actively contribute to the further professionalization of the team.

As Senior Learning Coach Rolling Stock Technology, you play a key role in developing craftsmanship within NS. You provide technical training at all MBO levels and guide participants in their professional development. In doing so, you ensure that knowledge is directly applicable in practice. You regularly combine the roles of teacher, coach, examiner, and advisor.

An important part of your role is training and coaching specialists within a new training program. You guide participants in small groups and help them develop in-depth knowledge of maintenance, ETCS, and fault analysis and repair of modern rolling stock, such as the FLIRT, SLT, SNG, and ICNG. Additionally, you actively contribute to the further professionalization of the team by coaching fellow learning coaches and initiating improvements in training and learning programs.

Your duties include, among other things:

  • You train mechanics with diverse experience backgrounds to become specialists within specialist and core teams.
  • In doing so, you coach participants in their growth toward becoming specialists, including the independent analysis and resolution of complex technical faults.
  • You guide specialists in documenting fault analyses and preparing technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the workshop.
  • You translate complex technology into understandable and directly applicable learning activities.
  • You tailor course material to the level and developmental needs of the participant and offer depth where necessary.
  • You identify opportunities for improvement in operations, recognize learning and development needs, and actively think along about the further development of training and learning programs.

When you start with us, you will follow a two-year didactic development program. During this period, you will further develop as a learning coach and gain direct practical experience within the training programs provided by the Learning Center.

Where you will work

The NS Learning Center is one of the largest corporate academies in the Netherlands and plays an important role in developing craftsmanship within NS. You will work from the NS Learning Center in Amersfoort and will regularly be present at our service and maintenance locations throughout the Netherlands. Your base is Amersfoort. You do not find traveling for your work to be a problem.

You will join a committed and enthusiastic team that contributes daily to the professional competence of our mechanics. Together, you ensure that mechanics possess the correct knowledge and certifications to maintain the rolling stock safely and reliably.
