Spokesperson Intern - Utrecht

Every day we run about 5,000 trains for more than a million Dutch people. With this, we not only ensure that the Netherlands is accessible, but we are also doing good for the climate. All of this brings us quite a bit of media attention. It's nice when everything goes well, but even more interesting when something goes wrong. What position do we take as a company? How do we gain support? And what story do we tell the media? Those are the questions that occupy us every day. That often means hard work, but there is also plenty of room for fun!

Nine spokespersons work in the Media Relations team at NS. We have space for a full-time working intern who is curious about the profession of spokesperson. Someone who brings energy and the necessary dose of humor. After all, we do like to have a laugh. Your professional development is our priority.

• You will participate in the department, where there is room to meet the internship requirements of your studies. The main goal is that you learn as much as possible and complete your internship with a great grade.
• We are looking for someone who knows everything about social media and can help shape our online spokesperson activities. Additionally, you will work on dossiers for the spokespersons and speak to journalists about them. Of course, you will use the possibilities of AI for this.
• You will also learn to create a media strategy and write press releases. You will be guided in this by one of our spokespersons who wants to teach you everything they know. We challenge you not only to maintain a good story but also to develop your own style.

This is what your day could look like
You start the day with your favorite latte from the coffee bar downstairs and discuss the news with your colleagues. You have kept an eye on the social media channels and know what is being said about NS online. Next, you go to Hilversum for a radio interview. After a nice lunch at the head office, you receive a callback from a journalist from NOS. You know how to involve the right colleagues to be able to answer these press questions. During the weekly team meeting, you give your colleagues an update on your project. The workday has flown by, and you are already on your way to Utrecht Central. Your train home departs from just a five-minute walk away.

You can find the Media Relations team on the 8th floor of our head office in the heart of Utrecht. It is only a few minutes' walk from Utrecht Central Station to your workplace. Partial working from home is possible in consultation. Although we love seeing you often!

• You are pursuing a HBO or WO degree, preferably in the field of communication. Are you studying something else, but the internship still appeals to you? Then we would also love to get in touch with you.
• Start date in consultation, preferably beginning of February 2027, full-time (36 hours) and with a minimum duration of 4 months.
• You are curious and, above all, looking forward to a challenge.
• You have an idea of the use of social media for companies.
• There is room to perform assignments or research from your studies. However, there is only space for a graduation assignment if there is sufficient room to participate in the team and thus take the first steps towards a potential career as a spokesperson.

• An attractive internship allowance between 400 and 600 euros per month (depending on the number of days you intern per week).
