The role
That is why you want to work as a financial specialist Rail Replacement Transport at NS
Lammert Visser: "As a financial specialist RRT, you ensure that financial agreements, analyses, and processes are reliable and that we can work together to steer and improve with purpose."
This is what you will do as a financial specialist Rail Replacement Transport
When trains cannot run due to works or disruptions, NS organizes rail replacement transport. As a financial specialist, you ensure that the financial administration behind it is correct. You assess quotes, process purchase orders, check invoices, and handle invoicing and recharging to ProRail.
The basis of your role is timely, accurate, and demonstrable financial execution. From your overview, you investigate discrepancies, coordinate with involved parties, and see where processes or systems can be smarter. In this way, you help prevent amounts from not being, or not being fully, recovered.
Thanks to your accuracy and ownership, you are of invaluable importance in:
What you'll do
- With your controls and careful recharging, you help prevent reimbursements from being left behind and ensure that NS receives what it is entitled to.
- You will receive independent responsibility for an important financial process, with short lines to ProRail, transport partners, Control, Finance, and the Rail Replacement Transport account managers.
- You combine financial-administrative investigation with analysis and process improvement within the unique world of rail replacement transport.
- assessing quotes, creating purchase orders, and checking and approving invoices;
- handling invoicing and recharging to ProRail;
- checking and processing reimbursement lists, assignment letters, and lapsed train kilometers;
- investigating and substantiating discrepancies between quotes, purchase orders, and invoices;
- monitoring outstanding items and the timeliness and completeness of financial information;
- coordinating with transport partners, ProRail, Procurement, Control, Finance, and the RRT account managers;
- identifying practical opportunities for improvement in financial processes, controls, and systems.
You work with financial systems, including SAP Ariba and SAP Vendor Invoice Management. Additionally, you use Excel, SharePoint, and Power BI, and you will learn to work with the logistical systems used within RRT. Experience with all these systems is not required. More important is that you quickly grasp financial processes and continue to work carefully.
Curious about what your work week could look like as a Financial Specialist at NS? Your week consists of a combination of recurring financial controls and financial investigation. You assess quotes and invoices, process purchase orders, monitor outstanding actions, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders. When amounts or data deviate, you investigate what is happening and ensure correct follow-up. From that daily practice, you contribute ideas for improvements in working methods and supporting systems.
These are the employment conditions
Working at NS means that you can make *the* difference in the dynamic world of sustainable mobility. You help keep the Netherlands accessible, for everyone. At NS, you get a lot of freedom.
