The role

Additional information

  • You organize and coordinate various recruitment events. In this way, you let participants experience what it is like to work at NS.
  • Variety is guaranteed: today you are at a large education fair for students, tomorrow you are helping out at an online event about the work of a train driver.
  • You will receive increasing responsibility and work towards independently organizing your own event. Naturally, with the support of your friendly teammates.

Shirlynn, intern: "What I love so much about my internship at NS? No two days are the same! I get the chance to discover different sides of event management. I receive more and more responsibility, can express my own ideas, and I love seeing how everything eventually comes together during an event. This way, I not only learn a lot about the profession, but I also develop myself personally. And all of this in a nice team where you immediately feel welcome!"

This is what you will do as an event management intern

As an event management intern, you ensure that participants get to know NS as an employer in a fun and accessible way.

You will do this by

  • Organizing online and live recruitment events for various target groups, from students to professionals.
  • Being the point of contact for participants and NS colleagues during events.
  • Creating run sheets in which everything is arranged in detail.
  • Maintaining contact with various partners.
  • Arranging practical matters such as catering, goodies, and PowerPoints.
  • Sending out evaluations and using feedback to constantly improve the events.

This is what your workday looks like

  • 08:45 You start with a cup of coffee and check your mailbox, task list, and calendar.
  • 09:00 Time to work on the briefing for an event next week. This way, your colleagues know exactly what they can expect during the online information session about the profession of conductor.
  • 10:00 You answer emails from partners and set aside goodies in advance for a colleague who will come to pick them up later.
  • 11:00 Week start with the team. First, a quick catch-up about the weekend, then you share what you are working on and where you could use help.
  • 12:00 Together with colleagues, you grab a sandwich in the canteen. After lunch, you take a short walk for fresh energy.
  • 12:45 Together with the event manager, you conduct an intake interview with two colleagues for an event scheduled for two months from now.
  • 14:00 Weekly meeting with your internship supervisor about progress, questions, and new projects.
  • 14:30 You review the evaluations from last week's event and process the feedback.
  • 15:00 Tomorrow you will be at a fair representing NS. You gather all the items you need to take with you: polo shirts, goodies, flyers, printed materials, power strips, and banners.
  • 16:30 You finish up some small tasks from your to-do list.
  • 17:00 Before you close, you check the travel planner to see which train you need to take tomorrow morning to arrive at the fair on time.

Where you will work

You will regularly be found at events, and in addition, you will work approximately three days per week at the NS headquarters. Here, you will work in the Recruitment Marketing team with ten colleagues from various fields, such as labor market communication, online marketing, and event management. You will also work closely with the recruiters from Recruitment who are responsible for filling our vacancies. A day of working from home? That is also possible. Sounds good, right? We would love to welcome you to our team.

These are the job requirements

  • You are following a HBO (higher professional education) or WO (university) program, preferably in event management, hospitality management, or facility management.
  • You are looking for a full-time working internship (32 to 36 hours per week) from February through June 2027.
  • You get energy from variety and are good at organizing and coordinating.
  • You are accurate and have an eye for detail.
  • You communicate easily and maintain an overview, even when you are busy with multiple things at once.
  • You dare to take the lead and enjoy working with many different people.

These are the employment conditions

Interning at NS means applying theory and knowledge directly in practice, taking steps in your personal development, and pushing boundaries while receiving good guidance from NS. But there is more. As an intern, you will receive:

  • An attractive internship allowance between 400 and 600 euros per month (depending on the number of days you intern per week).
  • The freedom to take on projects independently and contribute ideas.
  • Super enthusiastic colleagues with whom you can occasionally go into the city together after working hours. If you want to, of course.
  • The opportunity to participate in JongNS, our youth network, where you can get to know other interns and various business departments.

So? Have you become enthusiastic?

Then apply no later than Wednesday, November 11 via the application button. You will receive an automatic application confirmation within a few minutes. We will let you know as soon as possible, but at the latest within two weeks, whether we will invite you for an interview.

Any questions? Email Jerina from the Internship Desk via stagedesk@ns.nl.

Good to know

  • Interviews are on Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 November at our headquarters in Utrecht.
  • We believe it is important that everyone who works with us feels at home. You can see this in everything we do, and therefore also in our recruitment policy.
  • A background check is part of the application procedure.
  • With this vacancy, we wish to recruit our new colleague ourselves. This is therefore NOT a call for acquisition.
