The role

This is why you want to do an internship as a communication/corporate journalist video intern at NS

This is what you will be doing as a communication/corporate journalist video intern

Thanks to your insight in telling a story through visuals and your ideas about online media, you will contribute to:

  • Going out yourself to create high-quality video productions for both online channels, such as YouTube, press releases, and news items for colleagues.
  • Strengthening the NS brand by bringing current events to life: interviews and news items.
  • Connecting people to NS: We show that NS is a reliable carrier, a socially responsible company, and dé employer of the Netherlands.
  • Collaborating on the entire content creation process: from idea, via script, to publication.
  • Providing advice and seeing opportunities for how a message can be brought to life visually.

We are looking for an intern who dares to work independently, because not every video assignment goes exactly according to the briefing. You really don't need to be able to do everything yet, as long as you are curious, eager to learn, and take initiative.

What you'll do

  • You will help create high-quality video productions
  • You will get the chance to strengthen the NS brand and connect people to NS.
  • You want to develop your skills and learn many new things.

Where you will work

We would love to see you on the 8th floor of the NS headquarters in the heart of Utrecht, within walking distance of Utrecht Centraal station. This is where the colleagues from the Brand & Creation video team join forces. The Brand & Creation video team is part of the Communication department. A colorful and pleasant mix of experiences and personalities, our colleagues enjoy seeking each other out to spar and share knowledge.

These are the job requirements

  • You are studying HBO or WO Communication, Journalism, or something similar.
  • You are in the third year of your studies and are looking for a full-time (36 hours per week) working internship starting February 1, 2027, for at least 5 months.
  • This is not a graduation internship. A research assignment within the internship is a possibility.
  • Do not let deadlines intimidate you; we regularly deliver edits (or a first version) on the same or the following day.
  • You have an affinity for conducting interviews and creating editorial videos.
  • You make contact easily, including over the phone.
  • You enjoy collaborating, also with colleagues without communication expertise.
  • You are flexible and want to learn new things and also teach your team colleagues something new.

These are the employment conditions

Interning at NS means applying theory and knowledge directly in practice, taking steps in your personal development, and pushing boundaries while receiving good guidance from NS. But there is more. As an intern, you will receive:

  • An attractive internship allowance between 400 and 600 euros gross per month (depending on the number of days you intern per week).
  • Freedom to take on projects independently during your internship.
  • The possibility to sign up for JongNS, where you can get to know other young NS employees and the various departments within NS.
  • The freedom to get a behind-the-scenes look at (online) NS events.

Hiring process

Then apply directly via the application button. In your response, please include a video project you are proud of. You will receive an automatic application confirmation within a few minutes. We will let you know as soon as possible, but at the latest within two weeks, whether we will invite you for an interview.
