For this vacancy, based on a 36-hour work week, we offer:

Salary:

• Starting salary up to € 3,186.00 gross per month.
• Ultimately, your salary can rise to 4,425.84 gross per month during your career.
• Allowance for irregular shifts. During training an average of € 350 per month and after training an average of € 500 - € 900 gross per month.

The Netherlands has the busiest railway network in Europe. With 7,021 kilometers of track, our customers travel to almost every region in the Netherlands. NS machinists ensure that this happens safely and on time. Additionally:

• You ensure that safety comes before everything else and act accordingly by following the correct procedures, even during emergencies
• You work together with colleagues working as conductors and/or train dispatchers who provide you with information.
• You continue to develop yourself; you are curious about new techniques.

Training
Have you been hired? Then you will follow an internal training program of 52 weeks (36 hours per week). You will work in practice at your base under the guidance of a workplace mentor, and you will attend lessons at the NS Learning Center in Amersfoort. This way, you combine professional knowledge with practical experience.

The employees of NS operations are the face of NS. Together with all your NS colleagues, you ensure every day that over 1 million people reach their destination. The Den Haag base team consists of 359 machinists and 13 team managers. Together they form a friendly and close-knit group of colleagues.

You start the day with a cup of coffee in the staff room and catch up with colleagues. You arrive at your train on time and are in contact with the conductor. You perform safety checks and watch the signals. Ready for departure? Then the conductor closes the doors and the journey can begin. The beautiful landscapes of the Netherlands are your office.

This job suits you if you can work well independently and remain calm in stressful situations. You can act quickly and are clear in your communication. You are someone who:

• Has an affinity with technology. In the event of malfunctions, you look together with colleagues to see what is happening.
• With a 36-hour work week, you work 40 hours one week and 32 hours the next. This means you will be scheduled for one day off every 2 weeks.
• After the training period, it is possible to work part-time (24 or 32 hours per week) following approval from your team manager.
