This is what you will do as a junior facilities assistant in Leidschendam

Enjoyment in your work and a good work-life balance are important to us. At NS, we do everything we can to support you in this as much as possible. As a junior facilities assistant, you will work in the maintenance company in Leidschendam and will be an important link in keeping a pleasant working climate running for everyone. You will largely schedule your own day: you determine which tasks to perform based on priorities. Of course, we will guide you so that you can start working independently quickly. Thanks to your practical attitude and friendly, service-oriented manner, you will be indispensable to the entire team, because:

  • You register facilities reports, forward them to the correct supplier, and follow them up carefully. In doing so, you estimate what is urgent and keep an eye on the progress.
  • You perform small technical and practical tasks that match your knowledge and abilities. Think of simple repairs, replacing materials, or spotting a malfunction.
  • You assist in the maintenance of the grounds and greenery, for example by removing litter or weeds and by reporting tasks that you do not perform yourself in a timely manner.
  • You ensure order, cleanliness, and safety. You identify what could be better or safer, take care of it yourself, or report it to the appropriate colleague.
  • You are a friendly and service-oriented point of contact for colleagues, visitors, and suppliers. You receive them, show them the way, and guide suppliers to the correct location.
  • You follow agreements and house rules and address others respectfully when necessary. You also use prescribed safety clothing and safety shoes in the correct manner.

With your practical attitude, sense of responsibility, and heart for the business, you make the difference. You are steadfast, open to feedback, and help to make the location function a little better every day.

You work at the maintenance company in Leidschendam; this location is approximately a 10-minute walk from Voorburg station. You are available 24 to 36 hours per week and we will determine the working days in consultation. Colleagues describe the culture within the team and department as a pleasant environment, where people enthusiastically, helpfully, and flexibly take everything on together. Different cultures come together, young and old, which results in a nice atmosphere! Initially, you will be guided by an experienced colleague. At NS, we find diversity and inclusion important; it makes working together more fun and often improves the result. What your background or religious belief is does not matter: we are primarily curious about your vision on the junior facilities assistant position.

  • You possess at least mbo 3 level of work and thought, preferably in the direction of facilities or technical/civil engineering.
  • Experience in facilities services is a plus. More importantly, you have an affinity for a technical working environment and practical work.
  • You are a truly independent person who can plan well and set priorities. You have no trouble working without daily direct supervision and you take on work proactively.
  • You have a pragmatic attitude.
  • You can deal with tasks that do not proceed the same way every day. You switch easily when a situation or priority changes.
  • You have knowledge of MS Office 365, including Word, Excel, etc.
  • You work accurately, think in solutions, and have a practical, hands-on attitude.
  • You are service-oriented and facilitating; these are characteristics that suit you.

Working within NS means working in an exciting environment with plenty of room for your own development and initiative.
