Requirements

What we're looking for

  • a degree in Dutch Law (preferably with a clear interest in employment law);

  • fluent Dutch and excellent English, both spoken and written;

  • excellent analytical (legal) ability;

  • demonstrable interest in employment law within an international and transactional context;

  • perseverance;

  • team spirit and an international mindset;

  • flexibility, also in switching between advisory work and proceedings;

  • ambition to be among the best;

  • accuracy and attention to detail.

The role

Doing a student internship at Linklaters is the ultimate opportunity to learn the ins and outs of our practice. Specifically within our Employment practice group, you will get a good picture of how we practice employment law within an international transaction and advisory practice. This allows you to determine if Linklaters and our Employment practice are the right place to start your career—and vice versa.

As an Employment student intern, you will fully participate within the Employment team for two months. You will work on various employment law files, often with an international and transactional component.

You will have access to all the knowledge built up within our practice, and above all, to the knowledge and experience of the lawyers and (trainee) notaries in the Employment team. You will draft advisory opinions and procedural documents, conduct case law and literature research, and contribute substantive thinking regarding strategy and positioning for the client.

Within the Employment team, you will work closely with colleagues from other practice groups, such as Corporate M&A, Litigation, and Tax, allowing you to see clearly how employment law recurs throughout the breadth of our practice.

Submit an application?

You can do so via the link below. We would like to receive your:

  • CV;

  • unofficial transcript(s), preferably including (relevant) employment law subjects;

  • any internship evaluations;

  • short motivation letter demonstrating your interest in the Employment practice.

Procedure

Prior to the student internship, you will take a capacity test. If you pass this, one interview will follow with a member of the Employment team and recruitment. An advantage: once you have passed the capacity test, you do not have to retake it if you apply for the position of trainee lawyer after your internship.

Linklaters offers an internship allowance of € 2,000 per month.
