The role

Are you an ambitious law student with sharp legal analytical skills and an interest in litigation before the Dutch courts, particularly the Supreme Court? Then a student internship within the cassation practice of Linklaters Amsterdam is an excellent opportunity for you!

During your student internship, you will fully participate within our Litigation, Arbitration & Investigations practice group for two months. You will work on complex cases at the intersection of corporate law, financial law, competition law, and arbitration. In doing so, you will get the chance to experience firsthand how cassation proceedings are prepared and conducted, and how strategic legal advice is formulated in cases with great legal and societal relevance.

Our cassation practice is involved in large-scale and high-profile cases for leading national and international clients. This includes, among other things, proceedings regarding the setting aside of arbitral awards, questions of applicable law, mass torts, preliminary questions in tenancy law, mediation obligations, and fundamental issues in the fields of freedom of expression and directors' liability.

It is also possible to get acquainted with other parts of our practice group during the internship period, including litigation and arbitration.

What you'll do

As a student intern, you will actively contribute to ongoing files and gain a good insight into cassation practice. Your activities may include:

  • assisting with procedural documents and advice;
  • supporting the preparation of litigation strategy;
  • attending internal meetings and contributing ideas on complex legal issues.

Hiring process

You can apply via the link below. We would like to receive:

  • your CV;
  • your transcripts;
  • any internship evaluations;
  • a short motivation.

Prior to the student internship, you will take a capacity test. When you complete this successfully, an interview with a staff member and recruitment will follow. The advantage of this is that you do not have to retake this capacity test when you apply for a position as a trainee lawyer after your internship.
