The role

Internal Communication & Content Specialist

Location: Houten

Hours: 32-38h per week

As an Internal Communication & Content Specialist, you are the driving force behind Kersten's internal communication. You ensure that colleagues throughout the Netherlands are taken along in what is happening within the organization in a recognizable and accessible way. You translate developments, successes, and stories into communication that informs, connects, and increases engagement. In this way, you contribute to one shared Kersten story.

A role with room to build further

At Kersten, you get the chance to play an important role in the further development of our internal communication. You ensure coherence in how, when, and through which channels we communicate with colleagues. In doing so, you develop communication rhythms, formats, and guidelines that ensure recognizability and continuity within the organization.

An important part of this role is the further development of our intranet and our internal knowledge platforms. Together with colleagues from different parts of the organization, you ensure that information is available in an accessible, up-to-date, and clear manner. In this way, you contribute to a user-friendly digital working environment that supports colleagues in their daily work.

To ensure communication aligns well with what is happening within Kersten, you are visible in the organization. You actively maintain contact with colleagues at various locations, gather stories and insights, and translate these into communication that informs, connects, and increases engagement. In doing so, you move effortlessly between the shop floor, staff departments, management, and the board.

This is what you will do

As an Internal Communication & Content Specialist, you play an important role in further developing and strengthening the internal communication within Kersten. You are part of a close-knit Marketing & Communication team, where you provide structure, coherence, and continuity in the way we inform and engage colleagues. You develop communication rhythms, formats, and working methods and help to anchor these sustainably within the organization.

To ensure communication aligns well with what is happening within Kersten, you actively maintain contact with colleagues from different parts of the organization. You gather stories, insights, and developments and translate these into communication that is clear, recognizable, and connecting. In doing so, you switch effortlessly between colleagues on the shop floor, staff departments, management, and the board.

Your responsibilities include, among other things:

  • Setting up, expanding, and safeguarding the internal communication structure within Kersten.
  • Developing communication rhythms, communication guidelines, formats, and a communication calendar.
  • Further developing, managing, and optimizing internal communication channels.
  • Advising on and supporting internal communication regarding organization-wide developments, changes, and themes such as culture, safety, sustainability, and digitalization.
  • Creating engaging content in text, image, and video, including news reports, interviews, articles, and practical updates.
  • Actively gathering stories, signals, and practical examples at our locations.
  • Monitoring the quality, coherence, and recognizability of the internal communication and the smart use of digital tools and AI to make communication more effective.

What you bring

You have proven experience with internal communication within a larger, preferably decentrally organized organization. Experience within a social organization aligns well with Kersten.

A specific communication degree is useful but not a requirement. We find your working and thinking level, experience, and proven results within internal communication more important than a specific diploma.

You have:

  • Minimum HBO (higher professional education) working and thinking level.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience.
  • You have proven experience with internal communication within a larger organization with multiple locations or business units. Experience within a social or service-oriented environment is a plus.
  • Experience with setting up and safeguarding communication structures.
  • Excellent communication and editorial skills.
  • Creativity in text and image.

This characterizes you

You are not an advisor who only makes plans. You think ahead and roll up your sleeves yourself. You think, make connections, organize, ask follow-up questions, create content, and ensure that plans are actually executed.

  • You easily connect colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • You are curious, visible in the organization, and genuinely interested in people.
  • You bring structure and know how to expand it in a disciplined manner.
  • You take initiative, think in terms of opportunities, and come up with ideas that truly move things forward.
  • You feel comfortable in a dynamic environment and switch easily between different interests, target groups, and levels.
  • You are a team player with an independent perspective, critical thinking skills, and a sense of humor.
  • You get energy from visiting our locations.

What you can expect from us

At Kersten, you get the chance to make a visible difference. You will get a central role in further developing our internal communication and helping to connect colleagues throughout the Netherlands. In doing so, you will get plenty of room for your own initiative, entrepreneurship, and creativity. You will work in an informal organization with short lines, engaged colleagues, and a close-knit Marketing & Communication team. Furthermore, you will get the freedom to further shape communication structures, internal channels, and smart digital tools.

In addition, we offer:

  • An employment of 32 to 38 hours per week.
  • 24 vacation days in accordance with the Motor Vehicle and Two-Wheeler Industry collective labor agreement (CAO).
  • 13 ADV days per year when you work 40 hours per week.
  • A pension scheme via Centraal Beheer PPI.
  • Every year off on May 5th.
  • A net employability bonus of € 200 per year.
  • A contribution to your fitness subscription.
  • The possibility to make use of a bicycle plan.
  • Plenty of room for training, personal development, and knowledge sharing.

Will you make our internal communication stronger?

Do you see yourself as the connector who brings structure, makes stories visible, and helps colleagues throughout the Netherlands to be part of one shared Kersten story? Then we would love to talk to you.
