The role
At De Vries Scheepsbouw Makkum, the pearl of the Frisian economy, we build exceptional Feadships: world-class yachts, fully customized to the client's wishes and finished to perfection. From our modern shipyard on the IJsselmeer, we proudly work on projects up to 120 meters. Every detail counts, and everyone's craftsmanship contributes to the final result. Together, we realize yachts that garner admiration worldwide. That is your contribution to the construction of a Feadship.
What you'll do
As a Painting Team Leader, you will provide daily leadership to a team of yacht painters working on the finishing of our superyachts on board. You are visible on the work floor and provide clear direction to your team. You ensure good cooperation, so that everyone can optimally practice their craft. Together with the Painting Department Manager, you ensure that capacity, planning, and quality are aligned.
You distribute the work, give clear instructions, and monitor the progress of the activities. In doing so, you maintain control over the deployment of people, materials, and hours, and ensure that the right resources are available at the right time. You coordinate daily with work preparation, engineering, and other disciplines, so that the work is carried out according to plan and the highest quality standards. Is something running differently than planned? Then you switch quickly and adjust where necessary.
In addition to daily management, you are an important coach for your team. You share knowledge and experience, guide employees in their development, and contribute to a work environment in which collaborating, addressing one another, and continuous improvement are second nature. You conduct, among other things, evaluation interviews, participate in work meetings, and oversee order, cleanliness, and compliance with safety and health and safety (Arbo) regulations.
In this role, you combine operational leadership with substantive involvement. You see opportunities for improvement and actively discuss them with your colleagues. In this way, you think along about the organization of the work. In that manner, you contribute strongly to the quality and progress of every project.
What you bring
You are a leader who maintains an overview and enjoys being among people. You know how to motivate a team, communicate clearly, and also keep a cool head under pressure.
Furthermore, you have:
- Mbo+ work and thinking level;
- Experience within painting work, preferably in yacht building, shipbuilding, or a comparable technical environment;
- Experience in leading employees;
