The role

At Royal van Lent Shipyards on the Kaag, we build unique superyachts from 70 to 100 meters. Exactly as the client desires from beginning to end. These yachts are known for their innovation, beauty, and reliability.

As an allround woodworker/ship interior specialist, you will make an important contribution to this. You perform high-level craftsmanship using the most modern machines and often with special types of wood. Additionally, you also supervise colleagues and interns in the furniture workshop and on board.

What you'll do

A solid wooden staircase, a lounge sofa for the guest quarters, the wardrobe in the owner's section. As a Yacht Interior Specialist / Allround Furniture Maker, you ensure that the luxury custom wooden interior is created in the furniture workshop. After that, you install this interior into the yacht yourself.

Despite everything being drawn up, the furniture must ultimately fit precisely into the yacht. And in the finishing phase of the yacht, you are not the only one at the shipyard. For this, you coordinate your work well with other professionals, such as electricians, pipefitters, and plumbers. You also consult with the marble suppliers. From basic floors, walls, and ceilings to high-gloss lacquered veneer panels, walk-in closets, and makeup tables. The construction elements from the workshop and (built-in) drawings come together in this phase. In the spaces assigned to you, you are responsible from A to Z. Here, you provide smart solutions for practical problems. We continue to strive for high quality standards, both for the furniture workshop and for the installation.

Tasks Allround Furniture Maker / Ship Interior Specialist:

  • Reading the information on the working drawings and processing the information in the correct manner;
  • The (independent) making and processing of furniture, including ceilings, wall panels, and stairs;
  • The installation of furniture on location, which has been made by your colleagues from the production department;
  • Performing work on location (if necessary);
  • The supervision of interns and apprentice furniture makers.

As an allround Ship Interior Specialist - Furniture Maker, you feel responsible for your own projects. You work with great precision in doing so. Additionally:

  • You enjoy teaching new talent the trade. You like to delve into how the production process can be even better.
  • The willingness to perform your duties in the furniture workshop and on board at Kaag.
