We offer you a challenging and responsible position within an organization that is in full development. Every yacht is custom-made and cannot exist without your contribution. Therefore, there is always a piece of yourself in it. That gives a sense of pride. And also a sense of responsibility. Perhaps the most important thing we can offer you.

In addition, we offer you:

The role

Every year, an average of three superyachts leave the dry docks of the Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw shipyard. Luxury, custom-made yachts that distinguish themselves through the quality of construction, engineering, and finishing.

As an incoming Project Manager Engineering, you will work on projects of exceptional scale and complexity. The construction of a superyacht takes an average of three years. For the client, this is a personal process in which a dream becomes reality. Within this playing field of customization, technology, and collaboration between disciplines, you hold a central role.

For you, this is a position with high dynamics and responsibility. You work in the heart of the engineering of a superyacht, where disciplines such as construction, interior, exterior, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering converge. Everything must connect seamlessly. And you play a key role in that.

In this position, you will start as a Project Coordinator. You will coordinate the engineering and get to know the process and the technical content well. At the same time, you will get to know the organization and your stakeholders from the inside. From there, you will grow into the role of Project Manager Engineering.

What you'll do

As an incoming Project Manager Engineering, you coordinate the collaboration between these engineering disciplines. You organize and lead integration meetings and ensure that technical choices are made in a timely and correct manner. You monitor progress, signal risks, and map out the effect of changes. In doing so, you ensure that information reaches the right people at the right time and that agreements are met.

You are the pivot that maintains oversight, connects people, and keeps the engineering process moving.

It is a role in which you truly must rely on your entrepreneurship, customer focus, and decisiveness. You will develop yourself both technically and procedurally, but also in stakeholder management and leading teams. You will learn how to maintain oversight in a complex environment and how to bring people along with choices and solutions.

  • Initiating and monitoring the engineering scope, planning, and progress
  • Coordinating technical information flows between disciplines and departments
  • Making risks and the effect of changes in customer wishes transparent
  • Steering and mobilizing the engineering team to reach the right solutions

What you bring

Above all, you are someone who is excellently capable of standing 'above the project'. You can delegate a task well, but you also think along about solutions. You know when you should, but especially when you should NOT, take action. You keep people on track. People describe you as an independent person. Thanks to, but also despite, this independent way of thinking and working, you receive freedom and trust. You do not need validation to be able to celebrate successes.
