Project Estimator

As a Project Estimator, you combine technical insight with structure and commercial awareness. You know how to quickly grasp complex information and convert it into feasible and substantiated proposals. Additionally, you recognize yourself in the following profile:

• HBO (Higher Professional Education) working and thinking level, preferably in Naval Architecture, MAROF, Mechanical Engineering, or similar;
• Demonstrable knowledge of ship construction, repair, and conversion techniques;
• Experience with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Projects, and Teams), SALESFORCE, and planning tools is a plus.
• Experience with cost calculations and/or the budgeting and sales process is a plus;
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations;
• Good command of the Dutch and English languages, both spoken and written;
• You work accurately, in a structured manner, and are resistant to stress;
• You are customer-oriented, result-oriented, and enjoy collaborating with different disciplines.

• For this position, the salary is between €4400 gross and €6100 gross per month (based on full-time employment), excluding holiday allowance. We determine the exact grading based on your knowledge and experience. This position falls under the Metalektro CAO.

• Furthermore, you receive 27 vacation days and 13 ADV days (for full-time employment), holiday allowance, travel allowance (23 ct / km), and a good pension scheme

Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld (part of the Damen Shipyards Group) develops and sells predominantly Tugs and Workboats. These hulls are produced from stock and subsequently customized to the customer. The role

As a Project Estimator, you are responsible for preparing cost calculations and budgets for potential repair projects / maintenance contracts and conversions within Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld. You assess customer specifications, inspect vessels, and translate technical and logistical activities into realistic and competitive budgets.

You work independently on projects ranging from small to large and from routine to complex. You are part of the Repair and Service department within Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld. In this role, you work closely with the Repair Manager and have intensive contact with departments such as Purchasing, Project Management, Design & Proposal, Research & Development, Engineering, external suppliers, and subcontractors.

Key Accountabilities

In your role as Project Estimator, you will be involved in the following set of tasks:

• Analyzing customer specifications and determining the associated workload;
• Preparing schedules to develop budgets in a structured and timely manner;
• Performing inspections on vessels to be repaired or converted and auditing completed work;
• Preparing cost calculations for various projects, from small repairs to full conversions;
• Devising and testing technical and logistical solutions for the purpose of project execution;
• Requesting and assessing quotes and terms from suppliers and subcontractors;
• Advising the commercial department during negotiations and tenders;
• Collaborating with internal departments to arrive at a complete and high-quality offer;
• Evaluating prepared budgets and providing input for project evaluations and supplier assessments.
