The role
The External Relations & Public Affairs team is looking for an intern with a passion for Albert Heijn and relationship management to support the team starting in September. No two days are the same! Do you follow social and political developments closely, see more opportunities than threats, are ambitious and realistic, and want to learn how to represent Albert Heijn to various stakeholders, such as social organizations, knowledge institutes, NGOs, government, politics, and industry organizations? Then this vacancy is definitely for you!
The department contributes to building, protecting, and improving our reputation with our stakeholders. This is done by working proactively, in an integrated and structured manner, with other departments, other Ahold Delhaize brands, and various external parties. Within Albert Heijn, the External Relations & Public Affairs team focuses on broad social and administrative contacts with the outside world, at both national and local levels.
Making better food accessible together. For everyone.
With 125,000 colleagues, spread across more than 1,250 stores in the Netherlands and Flanders, nine home shop centers, seven distribution centers, and our head office, Albert Heijn fills over seven million plates every evening. At Albert Heijn, we believe that food and drink play an essential role in the great challenges of society. It makes an important contribution to a healthy lifestyle, connects people, and contributes to a better climate and thus a sustainable society. Our mission is therefore: Making better food accessible together. For everyone. Albert Heijn Netherlands is B Corp certified. This certification underscores our mission, contributing to a healthy, social, and sustainable society. B Corp certification is awarded to companies that meet high standards for social and environmental performance, transparency, and legal accountability.
What you'll do
- Creating briefing documents for meetings with and visits to stakeholders, ensuring our colleagues are well prepared.
- Monitoring themes relevant to us - both in the politics of The Hague and by keeping an eye on other important stakeholders within the broader policy and social field.
- Organizing work visits and other stakeholder meetings.
- With your fresh perspective, you will be a sparring partner for the team.
- You support the External Relations & Public Affairs team in their daily activities.
During this challenging internship, you will be fully integrated into the team. For example, you will help with the preparation and substantive content of various stakeholder conversations and work visits. Think of a dialogue session with various stakeholders about how we ensure alcohol is sold responsibly in our stores, or a work visit with aldermen. Additionally, you are responsible for monitoring themes relevant to us so that we know what is happening and can properly inform, inspire, and activate stakeholders regarding our mission 'Making better food accessible. For everyone'.
