During your internship at Albert Heijn, you will primarily work on sustainability issues, social responsibility and health. These are briefly explained below.

Sustainability is a complex subject. Albert Heijn wants to make sustainability easy for its customers. Sustainable eating is eating with respect for people, animals and nature, without wasting food, plastic and unnecessary CO2 emissions. Together with customers, employees and suppliers, we work on concrete projects. We stimulate a healthy lifestyle, less packaging, less food waste, clarity about products and everything that is better for the climate.

(Social) eating is not a given for everyone. That is why, through our 'Voor Elkaar' platform, we are committed to making the Netherlands a little better, healthier and more social. We work together with three permanent charities: Voedselbanken Nederland, the Rode Kruis and Resto VanHarte.

As a Brand Communication intern with a focus on the social role of the Albert Heijn brand, you will help to further put 'better food connects' on the map for our customers. You will support the Brand Manager in a variety of projects and are also responsible for your own project, which will be determined in consultation. A healthy lifestyle is important for a good quality of life. Albert Heijn likes to help its customers on their way to making healthier choices. And we are not just talking about healthy choices in the field of nutrition, but also exercise, relaxation and sleep. Among other things, we offer our customers informative articles, videos, and even coaching to take small steps towards a healthier lifestyle.

Making better food accessible together. For everyone.
With 125,000 colleagues, spread across more than 1,250 stores in the Netherlands and Flanders, nine home shop centers, seven distribution centers, and our head office, Albert Heijn fills over seven million plates every evening. At Albert Heijn, we believe that food and drink play an essential role in the great challenges in society. It makes an important contribution to a healthy lifestyle, it connects people, and contributes to a better climate and thereby a sustainable society. Our mission is therefore: Making better food accessible together. For everyone. Albert Heijn Netherlands is B Corp certified.
