Who are you?
You get energy from translating complex calculations and business logic into clear, scalable, and maintainable software.
You understand that a pricing engine must not only provide correct results but must also be explainable, testable, manageable, and transferable.
You enjoy working at the intersection of actuarial craftsmanship, software engineering, and data. You are analytically strong, quality-oriented, and pragmatic: you see where improvement is needed and know how to convert this into structural, workable solutions. In doing so, you help the team to become less dependent on individual knowledge and manual work, among other things by capturing knowledge well and further professionalizing processes. Additionally, you find it natural to involve junior colleagues in your thinking process, guide them substantively, and actively contribute to their development.
This position is a fit for someone who is substantively strong, takes ownership of model quality, and gets energy from improving existing solutions in a mission-critical environment.
In exchange for your commitment, talent, and skills, you will receive, in addition to your salary, a holiday allowance and a thirteenth month, 27 vacation days (based on a 36-hour contract), and a public transport card or travel allowance for the days you come to the office. And, not unimportantly, you will receive a good training budget every year so that you can continue to develop yourself. This gives you the chance to grow, within our company or beyond.
Salary per month:
Based on collective labor agreement (cao) scale 17 HAY, the range is € 5,991.23 to € 7,988.31 based on 36 hours.
Pricing & Profitability is responsible for the pricing and profitability analyses of Athora's pension and insurance products. Pricing & Profitability develops and manages mission-critical calculation models for pension and insurance products. Think of pricing, NPV dashboarding, and profitability analyses. The models combine actuarial logic, financial risks, and commercial decision-making, and rely on a central C# pricing engine, which is mission-critical for our decision-making.
As a Senior Financial Software Engineer, you will work in the Software Engineering capability group, closely connected to Actuarial & Pricing and Data Science & Analytics. You will develop, maintain, and improve complex pricing models and calculation functionality in C#. Within the job architecture, this role fits an experienced expert who makes an independent impact, guides less experienced colleagues, and contributes to the improvement of models, processes, and working methods. You translate actuarial, commercial, and functional requirements into robust, maintainable software and contribute to the further professionalization of models, processes, and working methods.
The focus of this role lies on the continuity, quality, and further development of the existing pricing engine. In addition to maintenance and further development, you will improve the structure, taxonomy, and explainability of the model, so that the calculation core becomes more manageable, transferable, and expandable. In this role, you make an independent impact, guide less experienced colleagues, and help the team to better capture knowledge and reduce key-person dependency.
Main responsibilities:
· Developing, maintaining, and further professionalizing the central C# pricing engine.
· Implementing pricing functionality for buy-outs, collective DC products, annuities, and DB calculations.
· Translating actuarial and commercial requirements into robust, maintainable, and highly testable software.
· Improving performance, testability, error handling, documentation, and explainability of the calculation core.
· Further developing the model structure, naming, taxonomy, and functional layout of the pricing engine.
· Contributing to the modularization and standardization of existing models and calculation processes.
· Supporting NPV dashboarding and profitability analyses with reliable model output. Reducing key-person dependency by explicitly capturing knowledge and making solutions transferable.
· Guiding and coaching enthusiastic junior colleagues in the areas of model development, code quality, and substantive choices.
· Collaborating with actuaries, pricing specialists, data scientists, analytics specialists, and IT.
You will get approximately 900 colleagues who all believe they work at a special company. You will get the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the socially relevant theme of pensions. We ensure that your pension is well-arranged, so that you can enjoy your old age without worry.
You will get the chance to truly make a difference when it comes to sustainability, because we have been setting the tone in our business operations and our investments for years. Naturally, you will receive a (flexible) workplace at our office that belongs to the top 7% in the world, truly. And because you will also work from home regularly, you will receive a budget to properly equip your home workspace.
