The role

Have you just graduated as a nurse and do you truly want to make a difference for oncology patients? Then the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek is the place for you. We offer unique traineeships for nurses. In 12 months, you will gain valuable practical experience and learn everything about the latest treatments in oncology and the care involved, such as caring for patients receiving chemo- or immunotherapy, in an innovative and inspiring way. This way, you can discover if this challenging field is right for you!

What gives you energy? And who are you as a nurse? You will not only develop your professional knowledge, but you will also start a personal development track. You will, of course, not do this alone, but with supervision from your mentor and, of course, together with your fellow trainees. What else does this traineeship offer:

At the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek, we all commit to the same goal: the best care for every patient and every type of cancer. That is no small feat. But not impossible. Here, science and care work together on innovation. Time and again, we find new ways that help people with cancer worldwide. Here we save lives, we win time and quality.

What you'll do

  • For the first 3 weeks (or 6 weeks depending on your hospital experience) after the central introduction days, you will be extra staff - you will get all the space to get to know our hospital and your team;

  • In our skills lab, you will practice general nursing technical skills and become acquainted with the equipment and materials;

  • There is a meeting every month with your fellow trainees and there is time to share personal growth and experiences with one another;

  • You will acquire professional knowledge in the 4-day Basic Oncology Course, which will enable you to provide care to oncology patients with good foundational knowledge;

  • You are part of a close-knit team of (oncology) nurses, doctors, and paramedics on one of our 3 nursing wards;

  • There is a traineeship for MBO-V and for HBO-V. For the MBO trainees, there is, for example, extra training for transcending thinking and acting in highly complex care situations.

  • Continue studying afterwards? That is possible with the Advanced Oncology Nursing Program!

Requirements

  • You have just completed the HBO-V or MBO-V education. Experience within a hospital is a plus.

  • Your independence is great, but you also function well within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Reflecting on your own actions and functioning is something you do well.

  • You are down-to-earth, take quick action, are motivated, and can prioritize well.

  • Collaboration, humor, personal development, and the sharing of knowledge and expertise are important values to you.

  • Available between 32-36 hours per week and willing to work irregular shifts. The shifts for the first 6 months are as follows: 7:30-16:00 / 15:00-23:30. Night shifts are not yet applicable for the first 6 months.

The basis for your terms of employment is in accordance with the Cao Ziekenhuizen (Collective Labour Agreement for Hospitals). You will receive from us:
