What we're looking for

You have a VMBO Kader/GL or TL diploma, an MBO Level 2 diploma, a HAVO diploma, or a transition certificate from HAVO 3 to 4
You are interested in everything related to technology

You are curious and eager to learn new things
You enjoy working together with others in a team environment
You live in the Netherlands and possess a valid residence permit that allows you to work and study
You speak the Dutch language sufficiently, both orally and in writing. Lessons at school are given in Dutch and good communication is also important on the work floor
You register yourself at an MBO or HBO school. VDL does not arrange this, but we are happy to think along with you and can advise you on suitable courses and schools

A look behind the scenes at

The role

For the start of the new school year in August/September 2026, we are looking for an Apprenticeship all-round production technology sheet metal employee level 3. As an All-round production technology sheet metal employee, you can do everything yourself. You will work with laser, plasma, or waterjet cutting machines, bending and folding machines, profile bending machines, and various welding methods. You will not only operate CNC-controlled machines, but you will also learn to write and test the necessary CNC programs. As a craftsman, you also work by hand, for example, if sheet metal needs to be punched. You are a perfectionist and therefore also check the work of your colleagues. You will be actively supported by our practical instructors.

Your strength

The strength of VDL

During your BBL training at VDL, you will be guided by a skilled practical supervisor. You will work 4 days per week at the VDL company and go to school 1 day per week. You will arrange the registration for the BBL training yourself, of course with our help. After completing your training, we offer you the opportunity to continue your studies at one of the VDL companies or to enter permanent employment.
