The role

Work on one of the most important energy connections in Northwest Europe. At BritNed, we ensure a reliable electricity connection between the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. From the converter station at Maasvlakte, as an Operations Technician, you will contribute directly to the safe, reliable, and efficient management of critical energy infrastructure. In an international environment, you will combine operational work, maintenance, and asset management, giving you a visible impact on the continuity of the energy supply.

As an Operations Technician, you and your colleagues are responsible for the management and maintenance of the installations at the Maasvlakte converter station. You contribute to the safe and reliable operation of the BritNed Interconnector and to the highest possible availability of the assets. You work in an international joint venture called BritNed Development Limited, a collaboration between TenneT and National Grid, which connects the electricity markets of the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

What you'll do

  • Management of installations - You manage the high- and low-voltage installations and also keep an eye on the mechanical and civil installations at Maasvlakte.
  • Maintenance and inspections - You perform maintenance inspections and coordinate them where necessary. You supervise both planned and unplanned maintenance shutdowns and ensure that work is carried out safely and correctly.
  • Safe operations - You act as a Person in Charge (Werkverantwoordelijke) according to NEN-EN 50110 and the specific Safety and Operations rules of BritNed-NL. Safety always comes first.
  • Faults and incidents - In the event of problems or incidents with installations, you investigate the cause, either independently or together with the Maintenance Engineer. You signal technical risks in a timely manner and contribute ideas for appropriate solutions.
  • Asset management and improvement - You support the Maintenance Engineer and contribute to the development and improvement of the maintenance strategy, procedures, and processes. You also use the knowledge you have gained as input for short- and medium-term maintenance budgets.
  • Audits and projects - You support internal and external audits and are given the space to take on operational projects and improvement initiatives that contribute to the performance of BritNed.
  • On-call service - You are part of the 24/7 fault service. In the long term, you will be on call approximately once every three to four weeks.

We are looking for an independent technician who takes responsibility, shows initiative, and feels comfortable in an international technical environment.

How you'll work

Your place of work is your place of residence. Due to participation in the fault service, the maximum travel time one way from your place of residence to Maasvlakte is 60 minutes.

The position is full-time (40 hours per week). The vacancy arises to replace a colleague who is retiring next year; the desired start date is as soon as possible.
