The role

The energy transition requires smart, decisive professionals. In The External Chaintesters team, we work daily to ensure the quality, reliability, and continuity of complex IT chains that support business operations and digital transformation, so that the Netherlands can also rely on a reliable electricity grid tomorrow. Will you contribute to this as a Test Engineer?

How will you keep the Netherlands powered? As a Test Engineer, you are responsible for designing, executing, and improving chain testing activities. This role is hands-on and versatile: you draft the tests and execute them yourself. You identify risks and discuss them with stakeholders; findings are subsequently provided to the DevOps teams with appropriate detail. In this way, you work towards high chain quality, so that the Netherlands can continue to rely on reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy. You will join The External Chaintesters team, consisting of 4 colleagues.

What you'll do

  • You work daily with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, including fellow testers, developers, business analysts, and process specialists.
  • Collecting, investigating, and interpreting multiple sources of data and requirements. You look primarily from the perspective of your domain knowledge of energy market processes. The basis for your testing includes not only internal requirements, but also business needs, the expectations of external parties, and the coherence of the entire chain.
  • You are a trusted advisor who advises on the quality of the entire chain. This means that assessing risks regarding external software quality is also part of your advice.
  • Representing TenneT to external stakeholders in the field of test execution. You interact frequently in an operational capacity with external parties such as customers, partners, or neighboring TSOs. You do this by applying awareness of organizational goals, under the direction of the business.

Additional information

To truly make a difference in this role, you recognize yourself in the following competencies:

  • Managing Complexity. You can analyze large amounts of information from different systems, processes, and stakeholders, establish connections, and identify the underlying causes of problems.
  • Quality of Decisions. You make well-thought-out decisions based on facts, risks, and various interests, and know when to act independently or when coordination is required.
  • Optimizing Work Processes. You continuously look for opportunities to make test processes more efficient, effective, and future-proof without losing sight of quality.
  • Organizational Awareness. You understand how different teams, departments, and external parties work together within the energy chain and know how to involve the right stakeholders to achieve results.

Additional information

This role falls within the Test Engineer (IT Specialist) job profile, so that it is clear to both you and TenneT which responsibilities, expectations, and growth opportunities belong to this position.
