The role

The energy transition demands smart, decisive professionals. In Team Projects, we work on complex real estate and infrastructure projects that are essential to TenneT. Will you contribute to this as a Contract Manager Construction Projects within the Real Estate & Facility Management department?

What you'll do

Many projects are heading towards tendering and execution in the coming period. In this phase, senior contract management is decisive for predictable results and controlled decision-making. As a Senior Contract Manager, you are the contractual and commercial conscience of the integrated project team. Working within Team Projects of Real Estate & Facility Management, you will work on a broad portfolio of data and control centers, offices, warehouses, and other mission-critical locations, comprising dozens of projects and a multi-year CAPEX forecast of over €1 billion.

In one or more multidisciplinary (IPM) project teams, you will develop the contract strategy, provide direction to complex tendering and execution issues, and manage agreements, performance, changes, claims, and disputes. In doing so, you will work closely with the project manager, technical manager, project control manager, environment manager, and internal and external parties. From your seniority, you will oversee interests throughout the entire project lifecycle, safeguard the coherence between contractual, commercial, technical, and administrative interests, and advise project management and senior stakeholders on risks, scenarios, and decisions. When files transcend project or organizational boundaries, you take the lead.

  • Contract strategy and tendering: you develop and substantiate the contract and tendering strategy for complex projects and programs. You advise on contract type, market approach, risk allocation, award systems, and control measures, bring together interests from different disciplines, and oversee clear, legally sound tendering and contract documents in coordination with Procurement and Legal.
  • Management of UAV-(GC) contracts: you determine the setup of contract management, oversee compliance with obligations and performance, and ensure a consistent application of contractual processes during design, realization, testing, delivery, and aftercare. You intervene timely in case of deviations and advise on appropriate control and escalation measures.
  • System-oriented contract management: you translate contract and project risks into a coherent, proportional testing and audit strategy. You critically assess the control and performance of the contractor, interpret trends and findings, and drive structural recovery and demonstrable improvement.
  • Contract management: you manage complex changes, claims, disputes, and contract risks. You safeguard the commercial and financial interests of the project, develop negotiation and escalation strategies, and advise senior stakeholders on scenarios, mandate, and decision-making.
  • Professionalization and coaching: you provide direction to the further professionalization of contract management, develop uniform working methods, standards, performance indicators, and lessons learned, and promote their application across projects. You coach fellow contract managers, act as a substantive sparring partner for IPM role holders, and contribute to knowledge development within the organization.

At TenneT, we are looking for a senior contract manager who quickly grasps complex information, oversees administrative and commercial interests, and remains steady under pressure. You combine substantive authority with connecting leadership, dare to give an independent judgment, and know how to influence decision-making at project and management levels. You deliver high-quality results, bring calm and direction to complex files, and strengthen contract management across multiple projects.
