The role

Keeping the Netherlands in motion. That is your impact. What will the electricity grid of the Netherlands look like in ten, fifteen, or even twenty-five years? As a Grid Planning & Analysing Specialist, you will help provide the answer to that question. With your expertise, you will help TenneT make well-founded choices for the development of a reliable, affordable, and future-proof high-voltage grid.

Within the Programmes & System Studies team, you will work on complex analyses and long-term scenarios that provide direction for investments, grid expansions, and strategic decision-making. You will map out the consequences of developments such as electrification, renewable energy generation, and changing energy demand, and translate these into clear insights and concrete recommendations.

You connect technical depth with a broader system approach, weigh different future scenarios against each other, and ensure that studies converge into one consistent perspective on the development of the Dutch transmission grid. In doing so, you make a direct contribution to both the energy transition and the security of supply for millions of households and businesses.

As a Grid Planning & Analysis specialist, you play a leading role in the development of the long-term vision for the high-voltage grid in the Netherlands. You initiate, direct, and assess complex grid planning and system studies, and translate the results into strategic advice for management, policymakers, and other stakeholders.

You identify opportunities and bottlenecks arising from energy policy, regulation, market developments, and changing system needs. In doing so, you ensure that assumptions, scenarios, and research outcomes connect logically and that various studies together provide a reliable picture of future grid development.

With your experience in complex system analyses, you are a substantive sparring partner for colleagues and stakeholders. You combine technical expertise with strategic insight and help TenneT to make well-considered investment decisions that contribute to a safe, robust, and future-proof energy system.

What you'll do

  • You work on issues that are decisive for the future of the Dutch energy system.
  • You have direct influence on long-term investments and strategic choices within TenneT.
  • You combine in-depth technical analyses with advice at a management level.
  • You act as a substantive expert and actively contribute to the further development of the field.
  • You collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on solutions for the challenges of the energy transition.

What makes this position special?

You are part of the Programmes & System Studies team within Design and report to the Manager Programmes & System Studies. You act as a strategic interlocutor for senior management, government agencies, regulators, and international stakeholders.

You work closely with stakeholders within Design and national authorities to ensure that grid development studies and advice are based on a consistent understanding of future capacity needs and system constraints.

In this way, you contribute to identifying investment projects and complying with regulations, and through your advice, you support the government in shaping national energy policy.
