The role

TenneT's energy transition and digitalization require careful handling of personal data, demonstrable compliance with privacy legislation, and practical safeguarding of privacy in processes, projects, and systems. As a Privacy Officer, you will be the first-line point of contact for privacy issues within DTT.

You support management, project teams, and employees in applying existing privacy frameworks, identifying privacy risks, and following up on privacy requirements. You work closely with the central Privacy Office and escalate more complex issues to the second line.

As a Privacy Officer, you are responsible for supporting and safeguarding privacy compliance within DTT, HR, and a number of other Enabling Functions. You apply existing laws and regulations, internal guidelines, and methodologies in operational processes and projects. In doing so, you contribute to careful, demonstrable, and practical compliance with the AVG/GDPR and TenneT's privacy guidelines.

The position has an operational and tactical focus: applying, guiding, identifying, documenting, and improving within existing frameworks. Policy development and strategic direction lie primarily with the second line and the Privacy Office.

What you'll do

Your role and responsibilities:

  • Identifying privacy risks, data quality issues, or process deviations and advising on appropriate control measures.
  • Applying and safeguarding privacy frameworks, guidelines, and methodologies in processes, projects, and systems.
  • Supporting privacy assessments, DPIAs, ROPA activities, and other privacy-related registrations or controls.
  • Advising managers, project teams, and employees on privacy issues within existing legal and internal frameworks.
  • Supporting the assessment, follow-up, and escalation of privacy incidents and potential data breaches.
  • Coordinating with line management, project leads, security, compliance, and the central Privacy Office.
  • Monitoring that privacy requirements are included in a timely manner in projects, process changes, and operational decision-making.
  • Documenting advice, actions, risks, and follow-up, so that privacy compliance is demonstrable.
  • Contributing to privacy awareness through explanation, guidance, and practical support to stakeholders.
  • Escalating complex, policy-related, or strategic privacy issues to the second line or the Privacy Office.

Result-orientedness and KPIs:

  • Privacy requirements are processed in a timely and demonstrable manner in processes, projects, and systems.
  • DPIAs, ROPA data, and other privacy documentation are recorded completely, up-to-date, and according to the agreed methodology.
  • Privacy risks and incidents are identified, followed up on, and escalated where necessary in a timely manner.
  • Stakeholders receive clear, practical, and applicable privacy advice.
  • Compliance with AVG/GDPR and internal privacy guidelines is demonstrably safeguarded within your own area of focus.
  • Privacy awareness within DTT is increased through guidance, explanation, and consistent application of frameworks.

Competencies

  • Dealing with complexity: You view privacy issues from different angles and carefully map out risks, interests, and possible consequences.
  • Decisiveness: You make timely and careful assessments within existing frameworks and know when you can act independently or must escalate.
  • Optimizing work processes: You contribute to efficient and demonstrable privacy processes and identify points for improvement in the application of privacy requirements.
  • Organizational skills: You know whom you need to involve and move carefully within the organization, processes, and decision-making.
  • Persuasiveness: You advise, explain, and convince stakeholders based on substantive arguments and clear risk assessments.
  • Integrity: You act reliably, carefully, and transparently with confidential information and personal data.

The position fits within the job profile
