The role
A new residential area provided with lighting. A street where the light poles are due for replacement. Or a damaged pole that must be replaced safely. As an electrical technician at SWARCO, you work on public lighting in Groningen, Friesland, and Drenthe. Outdoors, at varying locations and with the space to deploy your craftsmanship. Because behind every light pole is a connection that must be correct. And you know everything about that
What you'll do
You will be busy with the installation, replacement, and maintenance of public lighting. One time you work on new connections in a residential area, the next time you replace existing poles or luminaires. Also, repairing damage and resolving malfunctions is part of the job. This way, you combine planned activities with tasks that require attention in between.
Your knowledge of low-voltage networks comes in handy daily. You make connections to the main grid, install cable joints, and ensure the electrotechnical connection of the light poles. You work from the work order and the corresponding cable drawings, according to the applicable safety regulations. In doing so, you pay attention to the installation and the environment in which you work. Working on the low-voltage network, in public spaces, ultimately requires carefulness and responsibility.
Depending on the job, you work independently or together with colleagues and other parties on location. When replacing or placing poles, you work together with groundworkers and/or crane operators. The supervisor is your point of contact for the activities and planning. You bring the professional knowledge to carry out the work outdoors well and safely.
You work in a large area. This can be for the municipality of Groningen, but Drenthe and Friesland are also one of our clients. As a result, you work on lighting that you also regularly see outside of working hours.
Additionally, you participate in the on-call service for malfunctions. This is approximately 1 time every 2 months, during which you are also available in the evenings, at night, and on weekends to handle malfunctions. Upon starting, you will learn our way of working and the digital system for work registration. You already bring the experience with low-voltage networks and the corresponding professional competence yourself.
Functie-eisen
Who we are looking for
Working outdoors suits you, with the freedom and the varying circumstances that go with it. You know your trade, work accurately, and take responsibility for the quality and safety of your work. You can tackle an assignment independently, but you seek collaboration just as easily when the job calls for it. Additionally, you are practically minded: if things go differently than expected, you think along for a suitable solution. Furthermore:
- Do you preferably possess VCA;
- Are you willing to obtain the necessary additional professional and safety certificates, such as Safe Working Along the Road and Life-Saving Actions;
- Are you willing to participate in the on-call service for malfunctions.
Are you currently working, for example, on house connections for a grid operator? Then your experience aligns well. Experience with public lighting is welcome, but your professional competence in low-voltage networks forms the basis.
