The role

Nice to know (you)

  • Schiphol is known as one of the most innovative airports in the world. Our internal innovative strength and investments in product development help us to continuously improve the airport for passengers, employees, and partners. This has led to a wide range of innovative (mostly digital) solutions that are leading within the global airport industry.
  • In an energetic team, you will help build the Schiphol Operations domain: you ensure that Schiphol employees and supply chain partners have reliable information to enable improvement or to demonstrate that we are compliant.
  • We are going for it: Schiphol must belong to the top 3 of European airports.

Connecting your world

As Service Owner Security Operational Support, you are the service owner of the digital products and services that contribute to better planning and forecasting within the Security domain. You are therefore end-to-end responsible: functionally, technically, financially, and contractually. And how you approach this? That is up to you. We trust the way in which you approach matters in a positive way. You will apply your talents to:

  • taking over the management of services arriving from the program: you assess what you are taking over, what still needs to be done before that can be done responsibly, and you set up the governance that is not yet in place.
  • helping to determine the solution direction of ongoing projects, so that what is eventually delivered is also manageable.
  • determining what a service delivers and to whom, and translating that into testable agreements regarding availability, recovery time, and quality.
  • drafting and managing Service Level Agreements and safeguarding the agreed performance, availability, and quality of the service provision.
  • identifying the need for change within Security and the security companies, and determining what will be improved or changed in a service. You do not wait for the demand to arise.
  • translating business needs and IT frameworks (guardrails) into suitable products and services from suppliers, with the principle that "good is good enough."

You work in a management team: we do not perform in-house development. Part of your suppliers are external, part are fellow departments within Schiphol. The latter makes the role more challenging than average: without a contract to fall back on, you manage based on content and relationship. Your most important stakeholders are Security and the Security Companies that work with your services. You report to the Product Lead Surveillance & Security Operational Support.

... as Service Owner Security Operational Support, you strengthen the Digital & Technology business area.

Business Platform Schiphol Operations (BPSO)

Schiphol Operations has formulated the ambition for 2030 to be the standard in leading a safe and effective airport system under pressure. You've got this

Schiphol connects your world. With the best people, we make travel safe and responsible. You contribute to this with your unique talents, such as the way you enthusiastically pursue goals, inspire and stimulate others, and involve them in the situation. In any case, for this position you have:

  • HBO/university level of work and thinking and extensive experience as a Service Owner, Service Manager, Product Owner, or in a similar management role. This is not an entry-level position: you are the first in a new team and you will set this up yourself.
  • demonstrable experience in managing suppliers and conducting performance discussions. You do not find it uncomfortable to hold a party accountable for what has not been delivered, even if that party is a fellow department.
  • knowledge of service management in practice (ITIL or similar) and knowing what an SLA is worth as soon as something goes wrong.
  • experience in bringing structure where none exists yet, and having no trouble starting without everything being finalized.

You get this

  • € 5231 to € 7257 gross per month (scale 12).
  • A 13th month.
  • You will receive an iPhone from us.
  • Room for development on a professional and personal level. For example, there is a personal sustainable employability budget for, among other things, pension (contributions), financial advice, paid leave, training, (career) coaching, and vitality.
  • 180 vacation hours.

These are just a few of our employment conditions that belong to this position (based on a 36-hour work week). Schiphol has even more to offer you. For the complete overview of all employment conditions, go to Employment Conditions - Working at Schiphol.
