The role

Field Service Engineer – Airports Security & Audio Systems | Schiphol

Work on systems that keep Schiphol safe, audible, and operational.

Imagine: you are working in the middle of the operations of one of the most complex and critical locations in the Netherlands.

An environment where:

  • public address and evacuation systems must always be available
  • cameras and radar must function in real time
  • access control and perimeter detection are continuously active
  • control rooms depend on stable systems and correct information

Within the Airports Business Line at Bosch, you ensure that these integrated security systems continue to do what they must do — always.

Your role: ensuring critical systems continue to function.

As an Airports Field Service Engineer, you work in a live airport environment where systems can never simply be switched off.

You don't work on installations in an empty building. You work on systems that:

  • are used by thousands of people daily
  • must function during emergencies
  • contribute directly to safety and continuity
  • are part of airport operations in real time

What you resolve, prevents disruption. What you test, must function reliably immediately. What you maintain, must always remain available.

What you'll do

  • installations function correctly
  • faults are resolved quickly and structurally
  • changes are carried out safely
  • systems remain reliable under all circumstances

You are the one who brings calm when technology becomes critical.

This is no standard service role. You work at the intersection of:

  • safety
  • security
  • IT
  • operations
  • real-time continuity

What you concretely do

From commissioning to complex disruptions

  • Commissioning security and audio systems
  • Performing preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Resolving complex faults and incidents
  • Testing and validating system functionality
  • Ensuring systems function according to specifications
  • Preparing handover and service reports
  • Performing software updates and system changes
  • Implementing small expansions and technical modifications
  • Guiding colleagues, suppliers, and third parties
  • Registering activities and technical documentation
  • Working according to ARBO, VCA, and airport security procedures

You ensure that systems are not just "on," but actually do what they must do when it matters most.

The environment: live, complex, and never the same.

Working at Schiphol means:

  • systems run continuously
  • work takes place while the airport remains fully operational
  • technology, safety, and operations constantly converge
  • disruptions can have a direct impact

This requires precision, overview, and stress resistance. You work in an environment where:

  • there is no room for downtime
  • changes must be carried out carefully
  • safety always has priority
  • technology must continue to function reliably in real time

Think of

  • Audio Safety (PA/VA and evacuation systems)
  • CCTV and video analytics
  • radar and perimeter detection
  • access and alarm systems
  • control room applications and operating environments

Everything runs 24/7 and is interconnected, meaning that what you maintain and resolve has a direct impact on safety, continuity, and airport operations.

Who you are

  • You remain calm under pressure
  • You think ahead
  • You work accurately and in a structured manner
  • You take ownership
  • You prevent problems before they escalate

You are someone that customers and colleagues trust when systems become critical.

Why you want this

Because you:

  • want to work on technology that truly matters
  • gets energy from complex live environments
  • wants to make an impact on safety and continuity
  • wants to combine responsibility with freedom
  • wants to grow within a stable international organization

This is not a job for people seeking routine. This is a role for professionals who take pride in systems that must always continue to function.

Ready to keep Schiphol operationally safe?

Do you want to

  • work on high-impact security and audio systems?
