The role

Nice to know (you)

  • You contribute to a safe and efficient flow of passengers and traffic on the landside at Schiphol.
  • Curious about the colleagues you will be working with? Then watch this video: The people behind the Schiphol operation ✨ - YouTube.
  • With over 4,200 proud colleagues, we work on our mission: creating a home port for world travelers.

Connecting your world

As a Landside Support Employee, you are an important link in the landside operation of Schiphol. You ensure that the flow of passengers, traffic, and logistics remains safe and efficient - even during disruptions and incidents. How you ensure this? That is up to you. We rely on the way you maintain the right balance. You will succeed in this even when the situation is hectic or stressful. You will apply your talents to:

  • guiding and regulating traffic flows and passenger flow and implementing temporary traffic measures and closures.
  • supporting and coordinating during incidents and calamities.
  • supervising works and traffic safety on the landside at Schiphol (Schiphol Plaza, Jan Dellaertplein, arrival passage, Koepelstraat, and the access roads to Schiphol).
  • carrying out inspections (including assets and infrastructure) and acting as a point of contact for passengers and stakeholders during disruptions.
  • collaborating with, among others, the KMar (Royal Netherlands Marechaussee), carriers, emergency services, and internal colleagues, and supporting the winter operation on the landside.

You work in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same. You are visibly present on the grounds and play a central role in monitoring both safety and the passenger experience. The position is currently a daytime role for 7 days a week. At a later stage, you will participate in an early, late, and night shift roster. This means you will also be scheduled on weekends and public holidays. It is important that you take this into account.

About Schiphol

With more than 4,200 proud colleagues, we take an extra step to connect the Netherlands as well as possible to the rest of the world. Innovation, safety, and collaboration are at the forefront. Together, we give more meaning to travel and contribute to the economy and society. For more than 100 years. In the Netherlands and beyond. Did you know, by the way, that:

... Royal Schiphol Group is the owner and operator of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Rotterdam The Hague Airport, and Lelystad Airport?
... a total of 68.8 million passengers traveled from, via, or to Schiphol Airport in 2025?
... you strengthen the Schiphol Operations business area as a Landside Support Employee.

Schiphol Operations

From the moment a passenger leaves home until the moment the aircraft takes off: we ensure a pleasant and safe departure for all passengers. In close cooperation with you, approximately 1,100 other colleagues, 140 airlines, and various ground handlers, we streamline processes from A to Z. For example, we ensure that a colleague is ready to assist persons with reduced mobility, from the parking lot to the gate. And that there are enough baggage belts available. Also during (un)planned works and delays. Together, we work every day on a robust department with a responsible and reliable airport process.

You've got this

Schiphol connects your world. With the best people, we make travel safe and responsible. You contribute to this with your unique talents, such as the way you focus completely on your goals. You also succeed at this when distractions or setbacks occur, performing your work carefully and with attention to quality. In any case, for this position you have:

  • mbo-4 work and thinking level.
  • at least 3-5 years of work experience in an operational (airport) role in which quick switching is required between disruptions, incidents, regular activities, and between the diverse interests of various stakeholders.
  • proficiency in the Dutch and English languages.
  • driver's license B, C, and E (operating a tow truck and driving with a light crane).
