The role
As Civil Airside Maintenance Engineer, you provide direction to the maintenance strategy and lifecycle approach of business-critical systems and assets on the Airside. You translate performance, technical condition, risks, and failure data into maintenance, replacement, and investment decisions that contribute to a safe, reliable, and future-proof airport.
In doing so, you work not only on the performance of today, but also on the airport of tomorrow. Within SHIFT, Schiphol is building a new way of collaborating, steering on (asset) performance in a renewed management and maintenance context within the Schiphol organization. The maintenance concepts, lifecycle strategies, and improvements that you help develop form part of the basis for how Schiphol will manage its assets in the future. How exactly you realize this? That is up to you. We trust in the way you pursue goals with enthusiasm and determination, know how to convince others of your vision, and overcome obstacles with confidence. You will apply your talents to the:
What you'll do
- development and optimization of maintenance strategies, maintenance concepts, and lifecycle roadmaps for civil engineering systems on the Airside, including platforms, service roads, rainwater drainage and gutters, and coastal works.
- analysis of system performance, failure patterns, inspection and measurement results, condition data, and failure mechanisms, and translating these into structural improvement measures.
- execution and supervision of risk and reliability analyses, such as FMECA, RCM, and RCA, and translating the outcomes into demonstrably effective maintenance measures.
- monitoring the coherence between systems, subsystems, components, interfaces, power supply, control, and monitoring, so that maintenance choices support the functioning of the entire chain.
- substantiating maintenance, modification, renovation, and replacement decisions with risk analyses, asset data, cost information, and business cases.
- optimizing the balance between preventive, condition-based, predictive, and corrective maintenance, with attention to safety, availability, service life, and total cost of ownership.
- formulating and testing technical and functional requirements for maintainability, reliability, availability, safety, and lifecycle performance in projects and changes.
- directing the substantive collaboration between Asset Managers, Maintenance Planners, Reliability Engineers, Technical Experts, operations, projects, suppliers, and maintenance partners.
You work within the SHIFT program (Schiphol Infrastructure in Transition), through which Schiphol takes more control over asset management, maintenance strategy, system knowledge, data, and performance. From your A-function, you act as a senior substantive advisor for system- and installation-oriented maintenance engineering. You oversee dependencies and interfaces, set frameworks, reduce complex issues to substantiated choices, and ensure that improvements are demonstrably secured in maintenance concepts, asset data, and decision-making. In doing so, you have a direct influence on technical facilities that are essential for safe and reliable airport operations.
Nice to know (you)
- The performance of the entire area is central, in which you steer civil infrastructure that is directly decisive for being able to handle aircraft safely and reliably. Your choices regarding performance, risks, contracts, and investments demonstrably contribute to this.
- Within SHIFT, a new collaboration model with market parties is being developed, with the aim of gaining more control over asset performance. We achieve this by strengthening asset management within our own organization and thereby actively steering on costs, performance, and risks.
- At Schiphol, we work every day on innovation and improvement. In this way, we keep the Netherlands moving and create thousands of jobs and opportunities for people.
